Medical experts laud the availability of Philips’ next generation cardiac imaging technology which they consider as a major paradigm shift in the way heart diseases are treated.
Called the iE33 or intelligent echocardiogram ultrasound system, it is the ideal solution to accurately diagnose heart diseases as it provides live 3D (three-dimensional) imaging of the heart, and has been proven faster and more accurate in measuring the heart anatomy.
Dr. S. Chandana, cardiologist and clinical applications manager of Philips Medical Systems ASEAN, recently demonstrated the non-invasive ultrasound machine to patients in a government hospital. "With iE33, doctors can now detect heart diseases at a very early stage, quickly determine treatment options and potentially reduce the number of patients they send for invasive diagnostic procedures," he said.
The introduction of iE33 by Philips Medical Systems comes at a time when hospitals and imaging centers are facing increased demand for echocardiography examinations. The iE33 features both 2D and 3D measurements of cardiac function and anatomy, live 3D imaging of the heart and user-centric ergonomics with voice-activated control and automated image optimization technology.
Significantly, the machine improves upon traditional static assessment of the heart since live 3D echocardiography allows a more dynamic appraisal that helps in the diagnosis of congenital heart diseases. It also reduces the need for invasive cardiac catheterization and provides for better pre-operative planning and post-operative care.
The Philips iE33 echocardiogram ultrasound system is now available at the Chinese General Hospital and The Medical City, and very soon at St. Luke’s Medical Center.
