Behind great and unforgettable songs is an exceptional songwriter. Multi-talented composer, lyricist and arranger Snaffu Rigor proves that, like his timeless hit songs, he also prevails through time. Who would forget Freddie Aguilar’s 1979 Metropop winning piece, "Bulag, Pipi at Bingi?" Rico J. Puno truly proved his irresistible appeal through his hit single "Macho Gwapito." Even Sheryl Cruz blossomed from a cute and innocent child star image to that of a charming young lady in her single "T.L. Ako Sa ‘Yo."
Today, Apr. 21, Friday, after more than four solid decades in the music industry, Snaffu will have his night.
"The JB Band Live at Captain’s Bar" in Mandarin Oriental Manila will treat enthusiasts to the enticing sound of soul from The JB Band, the Soul Music Specialists. On the same show, JB Music Studio and Management, led by president Joseph Rañola, will pay tribute to JB vocalist and Philippine music’s prized gem, Snaffu Rigor, acknowledged Father of the Soul Music in the country.
Hosted by Ariel Ureta and presented by Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey, Mandarin Oriental Manila, Megaworld and JB Music Studio and Management, this night will be a total celebration of soul music, highlighted by The JB launching its first CD album containing 10 original soul compositions by Snaffu – nine new and one remake, the immortal "Bato Sa Buhangin."
Also expected tonight are Snaffu’s friends and colleagues like Freddie Aguilar, Rico J. Puno, Nonoy Tan, Mitch Valdez, and Vehnee Saturno.
Sponsors of "The JB Band Live at Captain’s Bar" include AKH Construction Trading Corporation, Persan Corporation, D.G. Chico Trading, Supreme Strategic Construction Systems and Services, and Nukaza Trading and Construction Services.
