The workshop that can help your career
YOU can’t get all your modeling cues from watching reality TV. And while reason and discipline should be enough to build a career on, it helps to get the proper perspective from people who know the modeling business inside and out.
Aspiring models may want to spend their idle summer days enrolling in R.A.M.P. (Runway and Modeling Perfection), a 10-day workshop that tackles both the basics and nuances of modeling, ramp, commercial and print. Through various lectures and hands-on training by industry-related professionals, wannabe models are educated about everything concerning modeling, from lifestyle, the business aspects, posing, creating set cards, etcetera, and are even put in a model’s environment through a fashion show where they get to walk the ramp alongside professional and celebrity models.
R.A.M.P. is the brainchild of former top model Kuku Trinidad (winner of the Elite Model Look Philippines 1999), who is now committed to helping aspiring models make the most of the business, eliminating (to a reasonable degree) the trial-and-error process she had to go through as a model since the age of 13.
As designed by an experienced model, the workshop gives participants an overview of the industry as well as a practical guide to achieving one’s modeling goals. Lectures span the range from basics ("Photo Shoot: Models at Work: Strike a Pose," "Runway Training," by top models Razell Anderson, Nina Naval, Derick Hibaler and Rey Santos) to enhancements ("Creating Your Own Style and Quick Changing," by fashion designers Eddie Baddeo, Gerry Katigbak and Levenson Pe, "Versatility, from Video, Print to Live," by talent agent Errol Isip, photographer Marlon Pecjo and models Nina Naval and Rey Santos) to business sense ("Model’s Work, Investment, A-Z Terms," by fashion director Raymond Villanueva) to physical upkeep ("Skincare Routines, Nutrition and Fitness," by yoga instructor Sita Romero and nutritionist Chaitanya dasi Balagtas, "Hair Trends and Makeup Ethics," by AIA Hinoki Cosmetics Team Specialists).
The workshop culminates with a fashion show on May 13.
The workshop is open to all male and female participants, from ages 15 to 28. Workshop schedules are every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, 9 am to 12 noon, and one to four in the afternoon, at C3 Events Place, 18 Missouri St., Northeast Greenhills, San Juan, Metro Manila.
