Rural children visit media networks to voice out concerns

In advocating children’s rights through Plan Philippines’ arts and culture festival dubbed "Wow Bata 2: Bata, Karapata’y Ihayag sa Sining at Kultura Ilahad," children from Plan-supported communities in Luzon and Visayas made their media advocacy rounds in selected radio and TV shows in Manila.

Festival director Jonathan Otic, singer-composer of "Isigaw Mo Wow Bata" IT Casilagan and Hycinth Eleab from San Jose, Mindoro; Jinky Domingo from Isabela; and Nicole Delator from Western Samar guested in NBN’s "Pilipinas Ngayon Na!" hosted by USEC Robert Rivera; "The Morning Show" hosted by Bobby Guanzon and Veronica Baluyot; and "Sining Gising: NCCA Uganayan sa Tinig ng Bayan" hosted by NCCA executive director Cecile Guidote-Alvarez.

The "Wow Bata 2" delegates also voiced out their concerns and speak for the protection and welfare of other children via the radio shows "Ladies Room" on DZBB, "Sining Galaw" on DZRM and "Nakakabilib" on DZAR. The children themselves will preside the "Wow Bata 2" press conference on May 29, 10:30 a.m., at Barbara’s, Intramuros. "Wow’ Bata 2" is a three-day children’s festival to be participated by more than 300 children nationwide on May 30 to June 1 at Clamshell 2, Intramuros.

Highlights include cultural presentations, learning visits to child-caring institutions and skills workshops that revolve around children’s issues.
