The Philippines was one of the 22 countries where commercial vehicles by Isuzu Motors Limited topped their respective classes in 2005. The report is based on international sales figures gathered by the vehicle maker known for excellent diesel engines.

According to the report, Isuzu Philippines Corporation ruled in the one-ton pickup category by cornering 35 percent of the market. IPC also sold the most number of light-duty and medium-duty trucks (69 percent of the market) and commercial vehicles that weigh at least 18 tons, with 73 percent.

The other countries on the list include Japan (38 percent of two- to three-ton cab-over trucks); Thailand (38 percent of one-ton pickups and 37 percent in commercial vehicles); United States (73 percent of Classes 3 and 4 of imported cab-over trucks); and Australia (22 percent of commercial vehicles that weigh at least four tons).

Incidentally, in those categories in the five countries, Isuzu had reigned supreme for five consecutive years in Japan; 10 consecutive years in one-ton pickups and 23 consecutive years in commercial vehicles in Thailand; 20 consecutive years in the United States; 17 consecutive years in Australia; and seven consecutive years in the light duty truck category in the Philippines.

Isuzu’s dominance in these countries proves the universal appeal of the diesel expert’s dependable commercial vehicles. Geographical locations and cultural peculiarities may produce different transportation requirements, but Isuzu manages to serve as the common denominator for these diverse needs.
