A colllection of our funny experiences with I.T. companies during their press conferences and with public relation firms during their press invitations. Here are some of them that may make you laugh but at the same time give you some lessons on how to be more prepared and more professional next time:
During a product presentation:
Foreign Guest: We are proud of this new product release of ours. We have included a number of functionalities that most of our client are looking for especially (name of technology).
Reporter : Are you sure?
Foreign Guest: Of course, I am the Product Manager of this product so I should know.
Reporter : But your corporate website already said it won't be part of your new release.
Foreign Guest: Oh, when was this advisory released?
Reporter : Just yesterday.
Foreign Guest: I will get back to you on that. I have not visited our website for quite awhile.
(Are you really sure you're the Product Manager?)

During another product presentation:
Company : Despite our late entry in the market, we are expected to become a market leader.
Reporter: Your competitors are saying that you're already late and is bound to fail.
Company : Of course they will say that, but being the first to market does not guarantee success.
Reporter: Then how come with your other products you said being the first to market gives you an edge and your competitors will not be able to compete with you.
Company : Wait. Let me think about my answer. I know I can do this.
(Yes, you can do it. Go Go Go. We're behind you all the way)

During a press conference:
Company : We pride ourselves that despite not having a local subsidiary, our company is performing very well here in the Philippines.
Reporter : May we know what is your business strategy?
Company : It is implemented worldwide, we rely on our distributors, channels, retailers.
Reporter : Care to tell us who your distributors are?
Company : We actually have Two (2). Company 1 and Company 2. We are coordinating with them very closely. As a matter of fact, I visit them every so often to get more feedbacks so that we may use it to further improve our products and services.
Reporter : Who is the President of Company 1.
Company : Ohh.. I don't know.
(Close Coordination HUH!)

In a product launch:
SalesRep : Sir, perhaps you would like to try and buy our product.
Reporter : What is it and how does it work?
SalesRep : This product is unique and you can use this to buy any products from any of our affiliated partners.
Reporter : I don't think I will be able to use it.
SalesRep : Then maybe you can buy it and give it as a gift to your friends or love ones.
Reporter : Would you be glad to receive this product as a gift from your friend?
SalesRep : NO.
(Then I rest my case)
