Café Provencal, at the second level of the Shangri-La Mall, recently celebrated Provencal living by a sampling of 14 different French wines and delicacies from region. Energy Food and Drinks, Inc., exclusive distributor of Red Bull Energy Drink, supplied the festival with three leading French wine brands, J.P. Chenet, Louis Eschenauer, and Baron d’ Arignac.
Notable wines from the J.P. Chenet line includes the Cabernet–Syrah, a bright ruby red Vin de Pays with a full, fruity nose, and spiciness. The wine has a round fruit taste balanced with a pleasant finish. For whites, they have the sweet Blanc Moelleux, characterized by a pale golden yellow color, with a full fruit nose, and just perfect with desserts.
Pleasing wines from the Louis Eschenauer brand include the Chardonnay, a white Vin de Pays D’OC. The wine, slightly golden yellow with faint lights, is very expressive on the nose with notes of fresh butter, acacia, pineapple, and tropical fruits. On the palate, it is a fine balance and round with slight hints of lemon. Other good wines include: the intense and fruity Bordeaux Sauvignon, which is soft with a crisp finish on the palate; and the Medoc, with a deep red ruby color, and goes well with grilled meats and game
The Baron d’ Arignac line boasts of a fresh and crisp Blanc de Blancs. The bright, light yellow table wine has a clean fruity nose with floweriness. It serves well as an aperitif and goes with salads, fish, and cold dishes. The Baron d’ Arignac line also has a good sparkling wine, the Demi-Sec. The Demi Sec, which has a light yellow color, is round, easy to drink wine, with a small amount of sweetness.
