LENOVO: ONE BIRTHDAY, TWO LAPTOPS
spacer

By Annalyn S. Jusay

How time flies. People have barely noticed that it's been one year since Lenovo acquired IBM's Personal Computing Division but the all-women leadership team of the Lenovo in the Philippines made sure the milestone was celebrated in style with a party that coincided as well with the launching of its two branded notebooks.

In a party slash press conference at Strumm's Makati, Lenovo Philippines' country general manager Vicky Agorrilla and product manager Paula Isabel De La Llana presented to the media their two newest babies: the Lenovo 3000 N100 and the four-pounder Lenovo 3000 V100 designed with mobile business professionals in mind.

Both are equipped with Lenovo Care tools which deliver big bang for the buck through the following features:  easy connectivity for simple home, office and recreational set-up; a one-button  system recovery in case of catastrophic software failures; and automatic updates on a user-configured schedule to help keep the system operating efficiently at all times.

Designed for optimal performance whether for work or for leisure, owners of the Lenovo 3000 N100 can choose from either the Intel Core Duo  (up to 2.0 GHz)  or Solo (1.66 GHz)  processor. This means that CPU speed is fast and reliable enough to run multiple programs at the same time. For instance, you can review a spreadsheet or create a Powerpoint presentation while conducting virus scans in the background.

The N100 looks awesome at 2.54 kg. with a choice of either the 14.1-inch and 15.4-inch models. The widescreen is good enough to let one watch DVDs in optimized format and in terms of resolution , users can choose from either VibrantView or Anti-Glare.

The Lenovo N100's  other outstanding features include the integrated camera  and fingerprint reader on select models; a CD-RW/DVD-Rom Combo or DVD Recordable drive and wireless LAN.

The V100, on the other hand, is a stylish and compact notebook weighing  4 lbs. with 3-cell battery and a  thinness of 1.25". It  has a 12.1" Vibrant View display and is equipped with powerful Intel Core Duo processors, wireless LAN and great multimedia with Intervideo InstantON.

Both laptop models offer a variety of expansion options with its 4 USB 2.0 ports, 4-in-1 multi-card reader, PCMCIA slot and VGA/S-Video ports. Aside from the Lenovo Care tools, softwares included in both the N100 and V100 package are the Diskeeper Lite, Corel Small Business Center, Google, Google Toolbar, Google Desktop, Picasa, Intervideo WinDVD, InterVideo WinDVD Creator (for DVD-RW models only), Roxio Digital Media LE, Norton Internet Security 2005 Antispyware Edition and PC Doctor. After-sales service is also available 24/7 in centers around the world , with an outstanding limited warranty from IBM.
