THE ASIA PACIFIC COLLEGE (APC) of SM (Shoemart) Foundation and IBM Philippines is offering various academic scholarships and financial assistance programs to deserving but financially-challenged high school graduates.
APC seeks to drive home the message that, with proper academic preparation and informed financial planning, high school graduates can achieve their dreams of a quality college education.
Dr. Paulino Y. Tan, APC President, stresses that APC is capable of offering generous scholarships and assistance programs as long as students meet the necessary requirements. Presently there is no limit to the number of slots.
APC’s academic scholarships are categorized into four groups.
The Entrance Academic Scholarship can be availed by fresh high school graduates who earned top honors in their school. Valedictorians receive a 75 percent subsidy for tuition and other fees; salutatorians, 50 percent and 25 percent for students belonging to the top ten percent of their class.
The Dean’s Scholarship is for APC students who have final grades of 3.0 (equivalent to 90 percent) and above for one school year. Once they apply, they automatically get a 60 percent scholarship the following school year. They have to maintain this grade point average (3.0) to sustain their scholarship.
The SM Foundation Scholarship grants qualified public school graduates from the NCR, Cavite, Iloilo, Pampanga and Davao a 100 percent full tuition subsidy plus R2,000 stipend per term. Applicants are screened based on the criteria and requirements of the SM Foundation.
Dependents of the Special Forces Regiment (Airborne) SOCOM of the Philippine Army can avail of a 100 percent subsidy through APC’s Army Special Forces Foundation Scholarship.
APC’s financial assistance program is classified into three categories - Public School Graduates, Parish School Graduates, and the Socialized Financial Assistance. High school graduates with at least 80 percent general average are qualified to apply.
Public high schools graduates can avail of a 75 percent subsidy while parish high school graduates whose tuition in their parish school is less than R25,000 per annum are entitled to a 60 percent subsidy.
In the Socialized Financial Assistance Program, a family with a total annual income of less than R300,000 may be granted a 50 percent subsidy and 30 percent if the total annual income is between R300,000 to R600,000.
