Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo yesterday left the country to visit its long-time allies to further strenghten and deepen the country’s diplomatic relations.
Romulo will first go to Washington D.C. in the United States in time for the commemoration of the centenary of Filipino migration to the US on June 14-18 before joining the official entourage of President Arroyo in her official visit to Italy, the Vatican, and Spain later this month.
"Filipino-Americans constitute the second largest Asian-American immigrant group with ringing voices and an undeniable presence in mainstream American society," Romulo said.
The DFA Secretary further hailed the achievements of Filipinos in the US, saying their contributions have helped not only in sustaining the growth and development of the US but also the local economy. "Filipino-Americans are significant forces that will continue to energize RP-US relations well beyond this century." (Jude C. Galford III)
