Shaw Boulevard in Mandaluyong will be a new traffic zone effective today as the city government starts its experimental rerouting of vehicles to provide solution to the traffic-choked thoroughfare.
Mayor Neptali M. Gonzales II appealed to all motorists and commuters "to cooperate in the implementation of the scheme which aims to hasten the flow of traffic and instill discipline among all road users.’’
Prominent signages and barriers were installed in all corners/ and side streets of Shaw to guide the public on the experimental traffic route.
In the interest of public convenience, some changes in the original plan of the traffic scheme were fitted in.
The following streets on Shaw will be one-way: Bernardo St. from Haig St. exit to Shaw; Magalona St. from Shaw to Haig St.; Gomezville from Shaw to Guerrero St., Luna Mencias exit to Shaw; Pilar St. from Calderon St. to Shaw; Mabini St. from Shaw to San Juan boundary; Ideal St. from Shaw to Lee St.; Laurel St. from Shaw to Lee St.; Lee St. from S. Laurel St. to Shaw; Old Wack-Wack Road from Shaw; and Sto. Cristo St. going to Shaw.
For Pasig-bound vehicles from Kalentong or Sevilla Bridge, no left turn are the streets of Bernardo, Luna Mencias, Lee, L. Cruz, Araullo, Gomezville, Torres, Calderon and Pilar.
Pasig-bound motorists, however, are allowed to make a left turn on Mabini, Ideal, and S. Laurel streets.
For Kalentong-bound vehicles coming from EDSA Crossing, no right turn are the streets of Lee, Pilar, Luna Mencias and Bernardo.
No left turn are the streets of Laurel, A. Bonifacio, R. Vicencio, J. Luna, and Tiosejo.
No U-turn will be implemented at Sama St./flyover to Sheridan-San Miguel Sts., Further, No Crossing is allowed at R. Vicencio St., to Guerrero St. wand vice versa, and Calderon St. to E. Rodriguez St. and vice versa.
