MOUNT BULUSAN SPEWS MORE ASHES (AFP)
Mount Bulusan volcano in Sorsogon spews more ashes into the air as residents look on apprehensively. The government has ordered the evacuation of people residing within four kilometers of the volcano. Last Saturday, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo visited Sorsogon to confer with local officials on the plans for evacuation. She directed Gov. Raul Lee and other officials to ensure the safety of the people living near the volcano in case of eruption and also in the event heavy rainfall.

145TH RIZAL BIRTH ANNIVERSARY.
Park goers visit the statue of Dr. Jose P. Rizal at the Rizal Park in Manila as the nation celebrates today the 145th birth anniversary of the national hero. Rizal Province headed by Gov. Ito Ynares and Laguna headed by Gov. Teresita Lazaro will hold programs that will highlight the celebration of the hero’s birthday. The celebration in Laguna will be held in Calamba City, Rizal’s birthplace. Other towns and cities will also hold programs in which Rizal’s heroism and virtues will be extolled. (Manny Llanes)
