President Arroyo has issued 11 new appointments in the government, including bank executive Michael A. Osmeña as acting president of Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC).
Osmeña previously worked at international banks, such as ABN-AMRO and the defunct Bank of America where he specialized in consumer finance.
Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita said the President also designated energy undersecretary Peter Anthony A. Abaya as president of the Philippine National Oil Company – Petrochemical Development Corporation.
Abaya replaces Augusto Nilo at the helm of the state-run agency tasked to develop and promote alternative fuels as part of the government’s energy selfsufficiency program.
The President has named Mariano S. Salazar to replace Abaya as undersecretary at the Department of Energy.
Leonilo B. Lariosa has been named assistant secretary of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources while Alexander S. Cauguiran has been appointed executive vice president and board director of the Clark International Airport Corporation.
Juan Agapito M. Tria II is the new assistant administrator for administrative service of the National Irrigation Administration and Carlos S. Salazar, assistant administrator for systems operations of the same government agency.
Other new presidential appointees include Roland R. Robles, acting member representing the private sector at the National Book Development Board; Jose Balagan Sr. and Ernesto Jr. Fuenconcillo, both acting board directors representing labor at the Cagayan Special Economic Zone.
