Pussycat Dolls to invade Manila
spacer

Surely you’ve heard the hit song, "Don’t Cha," and its famous lines, "Don’t cha wish your girlfriend was hot like me?" Yes, trust the Pussycat Dolls to stir things up wherever they go. And the experience will be in-the-flesh soon enough when Storm watches London together with NoCurfew watch stores bring you the red-hot song-and-dance girl group for a one-night-only concert in Manila this July.

The Pussycat Dolls have risen from underground cool to mainstream hot and have incarnated from the hottest performing group in the famous Sunset Strip in Hollywood into the recording artists/performers that they are now. They have indeed come a long way since first forming the group in the garage-turned-dance studio of actress Christina Applegate. After years of headlining Thursday nights at the famous Viper Room, owned no less by Johnny Depp, the Dolls’ started having famous friends volunteer to dance and sing with them, giving the Pussycat Dolls the added notoriety and true celebrity pedigree. These friends included the likes of Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera, Carmen Electra, Brittany Murphy, Charlize Theron, Paris Hilton, Pamela Anderson, and even emcee Christina Applegate.

The Pussycat Dolls have undergone many line-up changes over the years, but the six beautiful ladies that comprise the group today is the strongest line up yet. A red-hot ensemble of raw sexuality and exciting talent, the Dolls are currently composed of Jessica Sutta, one-time captain of the Miami Heat dance troupe, Carmit Bachar, the sultry "La Vida Loca" girl on Ricky Martin’s world tour, Ashley Roberts and Kimberly Wyatt, two of Hollywood’s most talented young dancers, Melody Thornton the talented singer they found in an open audition,; and, a plus for Filipino fans, Nicole Scherzinger, a Hawaii-born half-Filipino, half-Russian beauty who scored a Top 10 album and single with her former girl group, Eden’s Crush.

This will be the first time the group will be here to perform for their many Filipino fans, and Nicole herself is really psyched with her upcoming visit, saying she is thrilled to come over and "be around people that look like me." But the Pussycat Dolls’ visit is also made special as a homecoming of sorts for Filipino artists based abroad who will be the front act for the Dolls.

R&B singer Sway Penala, whose San Francisco-based group, Drop n Harmony (DnH), has been dubbed the "Filipino Boyz II Men." Sway was recently seen as one of the finalists in this year’s "Americal Idol Season 4." Also appearing in the concert is Mikey Bustos, a finalist in the Canadian Idol 2003 edition. Mikey recorded two songs for the Canadian Idol compilation, and both songs were runaway hits with the Asian community there, and gave Mikey the distinction of being the first Fil-Canadian singer in Canadian music history to be featured in a Gold-selling Canadian record. Last but not least, the Pussycat Dolls concert will also feature Honoré (honor-ray), a songwriter/singer/producer, originally from Altadena, California of ethnic descent (Creole and Filipino). Honoré has had success as a solo artist and songwriter in the R&B genre, a talent he plans to showcase in his first-ever Manila performance.

With their hit single, "Don’t Cha," "Stick wit U," and "Beep," the Pussycat Doll’s Manila concert on July 28, at the Araneta Coliseum promises to be the hottest ticket in town. "The Pussycat Dolls Live in Manila" is made possible by Storm watches London together with NoCurfew watch stores. For tickets call Ticketnet at 911-5555.
