Bea Alonzo denied struggling with her role as Manny Pacquiao’s wife Jinkee in the current starrer "Pacquiao the Movie."
Although she admitted in a recent press conference prior to the movie’s playdate last June 21 that she only saw Jinkee once during the entire shooting of the movie, she managed to deliver a substantial performence.
"Sayang nga kasi I wasn’t able to really study Jinkee because we met only once sa shooting. But I just followed director Joel Lamangan’s instructions and I hope I satisfied him," told the young actress.
The director of "Pacquiao the Movie affirmed Bea’s hopes, "Yes, she did very well. In fact both Jericho (Rosales) and Bea did great I bet they will be in the running for awards because of how good they did as Manny and Jinkee."
Bea admitted she has reservations being in a true–to–life movie and playing a real life character but she was up for the challenge.
The best part about being part of the movie, according to Bea, is that, "it’s a story every struggling Filipino will be endeared with. There had been so many aspects about Manny’s story that people will relate to. At the same time, this is Manny Pacquiao, our modern-day hero. Instead of looking at the need of our people for a hero as something tha’s negative, we should all look at it in a positive way."
She added, "It’s a good thing that we have Manny at a time our country needs to depend on a hero. Mas mabuti na’ng ganito kaysa wala kang makitang someone to look up to."
Bea also denied that Jericho’s real–life girlfriend Heart Evangelista was jealous of their screen partnership. "Wala namang naging problema. Okay naman kami ni Heart. She’s very professional naman."
She also negated that there had been issues before when she was picked for the role instead of Heart. "Playing a real person was something new to me. It was my only worry when I accepted the movie. I knew this will be different from most romance films I’ve done. Never naging problema ang screen partneship namin ni Echo because we were comfortable naman acting with each other."
Meanwhile, "Pacquiao the Movie" features the journey of the ‘People’s Champion’ from his very young boxing years until his recent championship days.
Director Joel said the movie even delved on the many facets of Manny’s life that were not known to the public. "There are a lot of things na hindi alam ng tao tungkol kay Manny. Sigurado ako, ikakagulat ang ito ng mga manonood," challenged the director.
