Sparks flew at People’s Palace when the inseparables Jericho Rosales and Heart Evangelista came to promote their newest fixation — denim.
The two have been humming the same love song these days, unabashedly in synch with each other.
The caress on the hand, meaningful stares and a sparkling diamond ring on Heart’s finger did not escape the prying eyes of the press.
Love indeed has made Jericho and Heart the hottest property of Penshoppe to date.
The announcement came as a surprise for many, though. With the exception of international singer Mandy Moore and design demigod Monique Lhuillier, Penshoppe’s previous campaigns have made instant celebrities out of its image models, especially those who make it to Club Pen.
Could it be that the retail company is cashing in on the popularity of the two lovebirds?
"We didn’t have anyone in mind except them (Jericho and Heart)," admits Gigi Tibi, marketing manager for Penshoppe.
"Our campaign, Denim Love, is all about being in love with your denim. We all have our favorite pair of jeans, which we want to wear over and over again. And so we were looking for a couple who we thought were inseparable…just like a person with his jeans. The choice was unanimous – it had to be Jericho and Heart," explains Gigi.
"Sobrang solid sila," Gigi says.
"Actually we did an interview before we got them. We even joked na hindi sila pwedeng maghiwalay during the duration of the contract which is 15 months," the marketing manager reveals with a laugh.
"But they told us: ‘hindi na kami maghihiwalay’. That’s how in love they are."
No doubt, Penshoppe has found its perfect pair in Heart and Jericho, and vice versa. In fact, the two came to the presscon sporting the latest denim innovation from Penshoppe — and it’s not just for show.
"I was surprised when I first tried on the jeans. It just fits perfectly…I can move freely with this one," says Jericho, jumping up and down to stress his point.
"I’m not saying this because I’m endorsing Penshoppe. I used to splurge a lot on things but Penshoppe (products) is fashionable and reasonable. I especially like the low–waist jeans which don’t reveal your underwear but it’s still very sexy," Heart concedes.
Whether it’s the fit or the flare, the wash or the tear, Penshoppe is leading a blue revolution with its latest denim collection that marries technology with tradition.
Sharp styles and versatile cuts spawn a new love affair with the world’s favorite fabric.
Denim is utilized in more ways than one, from deconstructed to diamond–decked, torn and tattered to tailored and tapered, or the vintage five–pocket classic jeans to the multi–pocketed cargo.
And while the fashion rage today has seen a pair of jeans intentionally ripped and repaired, merchandise manager Victoria Golamco predicts a trend towards cleaner and premium finishes in the coming months. Of course, the slim fit jeans will always be a staple.
"It’s really about the woman’s curves. You have to balance everything to achieve that perfect fit — from the waist, down to the knee and hem. I guess if you love something, you have to start with something good," says Gigi.
