Keep you Hair at its Finest
spacer

Every bride wants to look her best on her wedding day. Looking your best is not complete without a scintillating crowning glory as well.

Beautiful hair starts with healthy hair. For starters, eating a balanced diet, drinking lots of water, having adequate hours of sleep, exercising regularly and practicing good hygiene can do wonders.

However that is only the beginning. Making your hair beautiful and keeping it beautiful is easy but requires some of your time and attention. Here are some useful tips from Wella to keep your mane healthy and beautiful.

1. Keep your hair clean and conditioned.

Wash your hair as often as necessary - when it is dirty, sweaty, and oily or when it does not smell clean.

Use a shampoo that is right for your hair type and condition – for normal hair, oily hair or chemically treated hair (permed, straightened or rebonded, tinted or bleached).

Follow it up with a conditioner for best results. Just as there are specific shampoos for each hair type so are conditioners too. Moisturizers are concentrated with humectants that attract and hold moisture into the hair. Reconstructors contain keratin that strengthens the hair. Acidifiers carry a pH of 2.5 to 3.5 to produce shiny and bouncy hair. Detanglers close the cuticle of the hair that causes tangles. Thermal protectors are best recommended for those who often blow-dry and iron their hair. Glossers are, for most part, cosmetic and to give shine to the air. And oils are prescribed to those with dry hair especially if you have used chemicals on your hair.

Have an intensive conditioning treatment (hot-oil, hair spa or hair mask) once a month if your hair is normal, and two to three times a month if your hair is dry, damaged or chemically treated.

2. Have your hair styled by a professional hairdresser.

Finding a good hairdresser is key to achieving the hairstyle you want. The foundation of a good hairstyle is a good haircut. It has to be planned well, taking into account both the shape of the face and head, the texture, condition and density of one’s hair and one’s height and body build. It should suit your occupation, personality and lifestyle. Haircutting is the most undervalued of all the hair services done in the salon and doing a haircut the proper way is not as easy as it may look.

A hair coloring treatment enhances your hairstyle and livens up the color of your hair. You may either have a one-color tint service or get highlight or lowlights to add depth and texture to your hair. Your hairdresser can guide you regarding the choice of hair color and the kind of color service you can avail of.

Meanwhile, a perm or curl treatment adds volume to fine, limp hair while a rebonding treatment can straighten naturally curly hair and flatten voluminous or "big" hair. You choice of treatment will depend on what result you want to achieve. Curled or rebonded hair will look so much more interesting when it is colored. Your hairdresser may recommend a semi-oxidative or tone-on-tone hair color treatment.

Have a trim once every four to six weeks depending on how fast your hair grows to keep the lines of your hairstyle defined and to remove the hair ends, which are the oldest part of your hair.
