The "in" thing nowadays for many people is to have a slim figure. I have a 34 waistline but the comfortable pants size for me is 36. Do I really need to trim down so that my phone can slide into to my pockets?
Our friends at Samsung recently handed us a SGH-E900 that we tested just recently. I'm not sure if this is already out in the market. But if it is, it will be what slide-phone addicts would want to have.
If you have a waistline like mine and you always have problems finding the right fit, the E900 is one phone that will surely fit in your pockets. It's a slider phone and at the same time it's very slim (about 16.5mm thin). The E900's design might have been derived from the D520 and D800 instead of the roundish look of other SGH-E series. And the fact that it is very thin, it's like a mutation from Samsung's D and E series.
The casing of the E900 has that glossy finish that will surely get a lot of finger prints. The battery is lithium ion (Li-ion), and the package contains a USB cable, earphone headset, manuals, travel charger and a CD driver. I assume that the phone is targeted for the European market due to its sleek and elegant design (suitable for the executive if you ask me). I wonder if the display and the back cover are scratch-proof.
The E900 is thin, lightweight, a slider, and it also has cool features like a 2 Mega pixel camera, 80 Megabytes of shared memory (which can be expanded using a microSD card), GPRS and EDGE, music player, Bluetooth and it even has a document viewer (and it doesn't have an FM radio). It's also not a 3G phone, so the phone can also be for non-3G executives.
The phone’s Bluetooth is fast, and I was able to pair it easily with other phones (I was actually able to browse the “My Stuff” folder of my Siemens phone). I was amazed with the document viewer feature where you can actually view Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF files, but the phone will run a little slow (loading time). The E900 does let you view documents very clearly; even documents with photos are not a problem. The document viewer feature is something you don't normally see in a lot of slider mobile phones.
Testing the mp3 player and the earphone, we had different results. The speaker of the phone is loud compared to other phones, but when you listen through the earphone you get a much crisper sound. Speaking of audio, the message alert tone cannot be change aside from what are already installed in the settings (but you can still change the ringtone though).
There are 5 games included in the phone but some of them are like trial versions. It simply means that you have to purchase (or download) the game in order to play it fully. Log into http://ph.samsungmobile.com for more downloadable stuff.
Overall, the Samsung SGH-E900 is one sleek phone – the real slim slider. Slim but packed with a lot of features; it’ll sure keep you busy, and you can keep it anywhere.
