Some 20 journalists have been inducted into the Henry Ford Awards (HFA) Hall of Fame, while 46 outstanding stories and photos can now boast of being HFA-award winners. Since its launch, the number of categories has expanded, while 2005 holds the highest number entries received at 153.
Undoubtedly, these numbers prove that the Henry Ford Awards has truly become one of the most anticipated media events each year. Through time, the HFA has also established its reputation as one of the initiatives that has continuously recognized reporters and photographers for their journalism.
"The anticipation and participation of media grows with each passing year. This has been overwhelming for us at Ford that each year, we continuously challenge ourselves on how to make the Henry Ford Awards even more exciting," said Henry Co., president of Ford Group Philippines.
On its 6th year, Ford is setting up the stage for an enhanced Henry Ford Awards program by kicking off the formal launch with the theme "License Renewal" as a call-to-action to renew the journalists’ commitment to raise the bar in automotive reporting.
Enhancements to this year’s program include the merging of the Auto Test Drive and Auto Event Story categories into one category as nearly all motoring events have a test drive component.
The Environment & Conservation Feature Story and Auto Industry categories have also been expanded to accommodate more story angles.
This year’s program will impose a two-phase judging system to further enhance the selection process of the winners. Only shortlisted entries in the first judging phase will be qualified for the second judging phase. Final judging will take place two weeks before the awarding ceremony.
Winners in the first eight categories will bring home P25,000, while winners in the special categories will bring home P35,000. All winning journalists will also receive trophies.
Entries may be nominated by editors, publishers, TV producers and fellow journalists, or entered by the participating journalists themselves.
The deadline for submission of entries is on Oct. 6, 2006, no later than 5 p.m.
