Question:  Recently i bought my laptop which is Asus model A3A. My Questions are :  1. Can I upgrade it to 516MB; 2. laptop has an internal battery I'm confused if I will take it out if I will use it in home.  Do I need to take out the internal battery? - thank you very much. - Marivic Bautista.

Dr. J:  Yes, I believe you can upgrade the RAM to 512MB.  With regards to your internal battery, when you're home or you have a plug available, use AC (alternating current) to run your notebook.  This will also charge your internal battery so that when you're on the go, you can still use your notebook.  Your computer will use DC (direct current) to power your computer.  So never remove your battery or it won't work.

Question:  When I open my computer it will run until "verifying dmi pool data" only and the other one displays non system disk.  Please help. - engelbert domingo.

Dr. J:  Verifying DMI pool data is when your computer verify the table of data it sends to the operating system.  An error will occur if: Corrupt boot files on the computer; Settings for hard disk drive are not correct; Floppy diskette or CD in computer causing issue; Boot devices not set properly; BIOS corrupt or misc. setting not set properly; Connections loose or disconnected or Bad Hard disk drive or other bad hardware.

Question:  Hello Sir. I have a Transcend 1GB USB flash drive. I accidentally formatted it and when I look at the property it says that 359MB disk free and the remaining is used even though there is no document inside.  My friends told me that it has a program. Can the PC shop fix it? I still have the warranty or do I need to pay?  Thanks Dr. J! Paul chua -again-.

Dr. J:  The files must be hidden that is why you are not seeing it.  If it's within the warranty period then it should be repaired for free.

Question:  Hi doc! Received an e-mail from friend, upon openning the attachment, scan result virus "W32.Blackmal.E@mm". I didn't open mail.  Please advice how to neutralized. Instal AVG on my computer. - Adriano Garcia.

Dr. J:  Make sure you have an updated virus signature list then have your anti-virus application scan your harddrive and the virus will be detected and deleted.

Dr. J:  Computer hanging can be caused by a lot of reasons.  One possible reason is your PC could be infected by a spyware or a virus.  Instant messaging software are used by some to spread viruses.  Scan your computer and have it clean if in case a virus is found.

Question:  I am having difficulty turning on my computer.  I have check the cables and plugs and everthing is working fine.  How come my PC won't turn on?  Thank you. - astroholiday.

Dr. J:  You have to check whether the power is really going into your motherboard.  There are cases where there is nothing wrong with your power supply but the socket in your motherboard is not working.  If this is the case, then no power is going inside your PC.  Have that part of your motherboard check.
