The Fab Five has been responsible for turning one style-deficient straight guy after another into a charming, better-dressed, nicely groomed lad.

That’s their job description, and soon, Carson Kressely, Kyan Douglas, Thom Filicia, Jai Rodriguez and Ted Allen, through the Ayala Malls, will work their magic wands when they come to the Philippines for a three-day visit.

A year ago, Kyan, the Grooming Guru, and Thom, the Design Doctor, were in Manila to share their grooming and interior design solutions.

This time the three other fabulous co-stars of the hit show Queer Eye for the Straight Guy are coming to check out the Pinoy men and give them whatever necessary style firstaids.

After close to five years of reinventing drab men to fab men in their reality show, the five had become stars in their own right—and have accumulated thousands of fans.

Carson, perhaps the most extroverted of the group, the blond fashionista who coined the word tsuzh (to refer to the way a shirt’s cuff, a pant’s hem, or a waistband is uniquely folded), is easily the most famous.

Carson has authored two books: A children’s tome called "You’re Different and That’s Super" and the style guide "Off the Cuff: The Essential Guide for Men and Women Who Love Them" where Kressley gives guys a step-by-step guide to knowing what to wear and when to use them, what to toss and how to shop, dispenses his wardrobe wisdom on such things as when to wear cashmere (always) and pleated khakis (never) and whether to follow trends (you don’t want to look like everyone else, do you?).

He often appears on the red carpet in the most important fashion events. He also made a movie cameo in the Hilary Duff-Heather Locklear starrer "The Perfect Man."

Kyan Douglas, for his part, has become a major crush of girls and gays alike the world over. He’s good-looking, his hair is always in place, he’s sexy and funny, too. Kyan is a specialist in men’s skin care and has had professional experience in the hair, spa and retail industries.

He has worked as a colorist for television and magazine projects including TLC’s "What Not To Wear," "While You Were Out," and Child Magazine.

Jai Rodriguez, The Culture Vulture, appeared in last year’s production of The Producers and has even essayed the role of the transvestite Angel in Rent.

But he is, of course, more popularly known as the guy who dishes out advice on etiquette and the charming gestures a man could use to get a girl on "Queer Eye." Jai’s television and film success inspired him to create his own cabaret at the XL Lounge in New York City titled, "Monday Night Twisted Cabaret."

One night, producers from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy caught the show found a perfect fit for their new project. As the "Culture Vulture" on Bravo’s hit show Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, Jai uses his skills and social charisma to coach men on everything from working the room in a social setting to feeling comfortable on the dance floor.

One of House Beautiful’s Top 100 American Designers, Thom Filicia has emerged as a different kind of designer: one that blends the worlds of mass media and interior design.

On TV, Thom is the interior design specialist and he was even honored with an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Art Direction for a Variety or Music Program. Prior to his acclaim on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, Thom garnered recognition as a major presence in the design industry.

In 1999, Thom established his own interior design company in New York City, Thom Filicia, Inc. (TFI). TFI specializes in both residential and commercial products, with a range of high-profile clients in the fashion, entertainment, media, real estate, and finance industries. Most recently, Thom Filicia and TFI designed the United States pavilion for the 2005 World’s Fair in Aichi, Japan.

Finally, there’s Ted Allen. Before Ted became Queer Eye host, who teaches guys on how to negotiate the complications of the kitchen and the dinner table, he was a contributing editor to Esquire magazine since 1997, where he is co-author of the "Things a Man Should Know" column—an irreverent guide for men on such items as fashion, sex, business etiquette, and cocktails.

He co-authored four books that grew out of that series. Ted was finalist for a 2001 National Magazine Award for his June 2000 feature story on male breast cancer, and again in 2003 for his part of an Esquire food-and-travel package. Before joining Esquire, Ted was a senior editor and restaurant critic with Chicago magazine where he has interviewed such food luminaries as Mario Batali, Martha Stewart, Paul Bocuse, Trotter, Rick Tramonto, Gale Gand, and Rick Bayless. He also has written a column on wine and spirits called "In the Spirit: The Intelligent Barfly" for the website Women.com.

These five eminently stylish and hilariously witty men—authoritative experts in food and wine, grooming, decorating, fashion, and culture—invade Ayala Malls from July 20 to 22 at the Glorietta, Greenbelt and Alabang Town Center to meet their Filipino fans.

They’re expected to—apart from signing books, delivering helpful talks and doing photo ops—assess your strengths and weaknesses, make you better dressed, better groomed, better mannered, and a better cook, living in a better home.

The Meet-and-Greet with Fab 5 are scheduled in Greenbelt on July 20 at 7 to 8pm, Glorietta on July 21 at 4 to 5:30pm and Alabang Town Center on July 22 at 10 to 11:30 a.m. Catch "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" exclusively on ETC, every Mondays at 9 p.m.
