DoST finalizing program to arrest brain drain
The Department of Science and Technology (DoST) is finalizing a human resources development (HRD) plan to solve the problem of "brain drain" in the country’s science and technology (S&T) sector brought about by scientists and researchers moving to other countries to work, Science Secretary Estrella Alabastro said yesterday.

Senate President Franklin Drilon was elected Tuesday, July 11, as chairman of the Committee on Human Rights of Parliamentarians of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the international body that investigates violations of human rights of lawmakers throughout the world.
Drilon was elected to the post during the 114th session of the IPU Human Rights Committee that started in Geneva, Switzerland this week. He is the first Filipino legislator to be elected to the position since the IPU was established in 1889.
