pRO Episode XII: Lighthalzen
The month of July marks the arrival of one of the most awaited episodes for Philippine Ragnarok Online: Lighthalzen, The City of Commerce. The 12th installment to the country’s most popular MMORPG tells the story of a city with a dark secret: beneath the façade of prosperity and wealth lies a powerful and vengeful entity, the consequence of a madman’s quest for knowledge and truth.
Story
Many centuries ago, a leading scientist constructed his research facility on a remote valley in Shwartzwald Republic. After a few years, the facility and the small villages surrounding it were acquired by Rekenber Corporation and came to be what is now known as the city of Lighthalzen.
Rekenber Corporation is one of the largest corporations in Schwartzwald Republic. The corporation was the driving force behind Lighthalzen’s progress through the use of science and technology, and these breakthroughs have greatly helped not only the citizens of the city, but Midgard as well. Despite these contributions, the most important (and most controversial) role the corporation has played is their involvement in the research on the secrets of life. This research has led Rekenber towards the development of Guardians--artificial life forms which are rumored to be even stronger than humans.
The Rekenber Corporation is nestled in the northern part of the city of Lighthalzen, the commercial district of the city. The commercial district also houses the Alchemists Guild House, the Lighthalzen Bank and airship landing strips. The southern part of the city is the residential district where most of Lighthalzen’s citizens and workers reside. You can also find the world-famous Rekenber Hotel in the residential district of the city.
Fields & Dungeons
The fields around the city of Lighthalzen are rough and rocky, but this hasn’t deterred the Rekenber Corporation and the citizens of Lighthalzen to transform the city into the commercial capital of the republic. Beneath the city lies the research facility of the city’s scientists. Most of the area is off limits to most people though, but persistent (or nosey) adventurers can find a way through a quest.
A second dungeon, Juperos, exists underneath the El Mes plateau. This dungeon is said to be the remnants of an advanced civilization from centuries ago. The dungeon is guarded by automated security devices and ancient mechanical sentries.
Monsters
The lower level of Lighthalzen’s research facility is the haunt of powerful transcendent ghosts such as Eremes Guile, the Assassin’s Cross. It is also the home of the remains of Lighthalzen’s life experiments like Gemini-S58. The dungeon of Juperos hosts the few remaining mechanical sentinels of the ancient kingdom of Juperos such as Vesper.
Items
With the opening of the city of Lighthalzen and the arrival of new monsters come new weapons and items for everyone. For hardcore adventurers and duelists, there are new whips, bows, musical instruments and daggers. For the fashion-savvy crowd, there are new headgears such as the cute red bonnet or the stylish detective’s hap and even new hairstyles! There are even new items for novices such as the novice shield and novice manteau.
Skills
New skills have been added to aid players while training and give them an edge in PvP. These new skills include the Homunculus system. With this system, Alchemists and Biochemists can acquire their own Homunculus through a quest. These Homunculi can help their masters in their adventures and can either heal, protect, or aide their masters in battle depending on their type (there are 4).
If you have already used up all your skill points, don’t fret because there will be an available skill-reset NPC so you can get those new skills.
Quests
Catch a thief, return with the forgotten lore of an ancient city or uncover a conspiracy: these are just some of the new and exciting quests offered by the city of Lighthalzen. As with most quests, there’s a handsome reward that waits when you return!
These are just some of the many new things that Lighthalzen has in store for pRO players. There’s so much more such as the new auto-message system, new hairstyles, and new emoticons, but I don’t think we’ll have enough space for them all. Install the new Lighthalzen update, log your account and get ready for weeks of play time because going through all the quests alone will take quite some time, so calling your usual in-game posse isn’t a bad idea to help you out and keep you company at the same time.
