The Instant Online Whiteboard (http://www.imaginationcubed.com)
Here's a simple, smoothly executed idea from General Electric. They call it "Imagination at Work." The site will give you a marker and a whiteboard and you can start drawing with your friends, colleagues or with your kids while you're traveling on business. You don't have to worry about cryptic commands - all you have to do is just DRAW.
The site works for both Windows and Mac. For Windows users the minimum requirements are: Macromedia Flash Player 6 or 7; P3 800Mhz; 256 memory; Windows 98, Windows 2000, or XP; Cable/DSL/Lan Connection; and IE 5.5. For Mac users the minimum requirements are: Macromedia Flash Player 6 or 7; PowerPC G4; 256 MB memory; Mac OX X 10.2; IE 5.23; or Safari 1.21.
As soon as you enter the site, you will be greeted by the marker pen and it will start to draw certain figures to welcome your visit. After which, you will be asked your preferred action.
Before you start your drawing, navigate through the menu first. Imagination at Work provides the following menu:
File - Send, Save, Grid On, Print, Info / Reply, Undo, Clear, Send.
To make it more realistic, the GE website also provides an Ink Indicator. Not that you're going to lose ink while drawing, but the Ink Indicator helps the site determine the size of your drawings. Since you can save your drawings, the Ink Indicator will control the file sizes to be saved by the user. The site also provides a Drag and Drop the Option Boxes that contains the following:
Tools - Pen, Shapes, Stamper, Line, Type, Background Color
Shape - Square, Circle, Triangle, Star, Diamond - Color
Stamper - Smiley, Heart, Arrow, Flower, Call Out, Change Size and Color / Background Color and Patterns
Now if in case mom and dad or brother and sister are not into drawings and are not interested, you can always invite a friend to invite you to draw either via Instant Messaging and/or invite by e-mail. A pop-screen will appear and will ask you to fill-in your name, e-mail address, friend’s screen name, AOL IM, message (for IM). For e-mail invitations, simply put your friend’s e-mail address and you're ready to go.
And the best part of it all, it’s FREE.
Have fun!
