While Keempee de Leon admits that he and leading lady Francine Prieto had a misunderstanding on the set of their sitcom "Bahay Mo Ba To," the handsome actor denied that he and Francine are an item.
In a recent visit on the set of QTV-11’s "Bongga Ka Star," hosted by rumored couple (Keempee and Francine), Keempee took the time out to deny the freshest issue involving him. The issue stems from the alleged punching of the wall on the set of GMA-7’s "Bahay Mo Ba To?" of which he and Francine are mainstays because he reportedly got jealous of Alfred Vargas when Francine expressed excitement over the producers’ plan to guest the hunky actor in their show.
"I’d like to clear that. Hindi ako nanuntok ng pader and Alfred was not the reason for our fight. Nilagyan na lang ng spice ng ibang nag–report to make it interesting to the readers. But I admit that Francine and I had a misunderstanding while taping for one episode of ‘Bahay.’ We were both in a bad mood kaya siguro nangyari yun and it was the first time that I really saw her get mad. Ok na din na nangyari yun kasi at least I saw her other side, nakakatakot pala siya magalit. First major fight namin yun eh," the 33-year-old actor told Manila Bulletin.
Like Keempee, Francine refused to expound on the cause of their fight because they were quick to iron it out anyway so she does not see the point in bringing up an old issue. She, however, couldn’t help but describe Keempee as an overly sensitive person whose emotions are not easy to deal with.
Francine and Keempee have known each other for so long already because both were part of GMA’s now–defunct teen–oriented variety show "That’s Entertainment." However, it was not until they did "Bahay Mo Ba To?" that made them feel that their friendship grew.
"Even though Keempee and I hosted the same day doon sa ‘That’s,’ hindi kami close kasi iba yung friends niya nung panahon na yun tapos may sariling set of friends din ako. S’yempre nung pumasok ako sa showbiz Keempee de Leon na siya, malayo na siya," recounted Francine who’s 23 years old now.
She added that she and Keempee did not easily warm up to each other when they started doing "Bahay Mo Ba To" but when they were offered to do "Love to Love" and saw each other three times a week for that matter, their relationship went deeper.
There are many characters in the show at talagang interesting ang bawat character. But in ‘Love to Love,’ the story is focused on us. Tapos meron pa kaming ‘Bongga Ka Star’ so we practically see each other three times a week. Hindi malayong maging close talaga kami," she stressed.
Never was there a time though that their relationship exceeded friendship cleared Francine.
I did not dump him pero wala ding ligawan nangyari kasi di ba ang mga lalake mga sigurista?
Keempee on his part has this to say, "I’ve been through a lot of relationships at na–trauma na ako so natural lang na maging sigurista ako di ba?
"Kung maging kami baka maapektuhan ang work namin so as of now, ganito lang muna," stressed Francine who enjoys putting Keempee on the hot seat whenever women from his past are guested in "Bongga Ka Star."
Among Keempee’s past flames who have already guested in "Bongga Ka Star" are Ara Mina and sister Christine Reyes. Francine said the fun part of interviewing them was making Keempee the butt of her jokes.
"Masarap kasi asarin ‘yan eh.
Keempee admitted that Francine is so good at making jokes that sometimes he’s beginning to see her character Jingle even though they’re off cam.
Magaling talaga ‘yan manlaglag," he said in jest.
Finally, when it was time to tell whether they see their working relationship taken to the next level, both had a mutual answer.
She is a very happy person. But right now our priority is work. We have to put our personal interest at the backseat first," Keempee explained.
As for Francine, she only has this to say, "Baka maapektuhan ang work kung maging kami eh. Siguro pag natanggal na niya ang pagiging over sensitive niya, that’s the only time na magiging puwede."
To trail Keempee and Francine’s story, catch them every Sunday on GMA–7’s "Bongga Ka Star" because just by observing the way that they look at each other, it’s easy to decode the real score of their relationship.
