A rookie police officer allegedly shot dead two drunken men and wounded another during a heated argument Tuesday night in Parañaque City.
Supt. Ronald Estilles, Parañaque police chief, identified the fatalities as Emiliano Gammad, 31, helper, of 3115 Mayuga St., Barangay Tambo, Parañaque City, and Rommel Doran, 27, waiter, of 774 B. Coldora St., Pasay City.
Gammad died on the spot due to multiple gunshot wounds in the body while Doran was declared dead on arrival at the Parañaque Community Hospital (PCH).
Gammad’s younger brother, Pedro, 25, was wounded in the process and is now being treated for bullet wounds in the body also at the PCH.
The suspect, PO1 Joseph Flores, assigned at the Parañaque Police Community Precinct (PCP) 2, located at La Huerta, Parañaque City, fled after the incident.
SPO1 Rodolfo Balacuay said the incident happened at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday on J. Gabriel corner Mayuga Sts., Barangay Tambo, Parañaque City.
Prior to that, the Gammad brothers had a few round of drinks with Doran. While waiting for a ride on their way home, Flores -- who was in police uniform -- arrived on board his motorcycle and bodily searched the three men. A heated argument ensued between Flores and the three civilians.
Barangay Councilors Roda Miranda and Donato Peras came to intervene.
Cooler heads appeared to have prevailed when Flores left the scene.
But after a short while, he came back and engaged the three men in another round of heated argument.
Apparently irked when the three men began hurling foul language at him, Flores reportedly punched the younger Gammad on the face. When Flores saw the elder Gammad and Doran rushing towards him, he allegedly drew his .9mm caliber service handgun and shot them several times. (James Catapusan)
