BACOOR, Cavite – Chief Inspector Alex Borja, Bacoor police chief, said he is unfazed by a decision of a prosecutor to release a drug suspect.
Despite the setback, he said, he will press the hunt for suspected drug pushers until they are put in jail.
The freed suspect was arrested last July 25 while allegedly in the act of selling R200 worth of "shabu" to PO1 John Ryan Nunez in Barangay San Nicolas.
Some policemen said earlier that they were dismayed by the decision of the prosecutor’s office here to "release for the meantime’’ suspected drug pusher who was reportedly No. 12 in the drug watch list of the police.
The suspect was reportedly nabbed by anti-narcotics policemen in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency during a "buy-bust operation" in this town.
The suspect who was charged with violation of Sections 5 and 11 of RA 9165 had been the object of numerous complaints by concerned citizens for allegedly selling shabu to youngsters.
On the day he was arrested, police investigators requested for an inquest of the suspect at the Bacoor Prosecutor’s Office.
The inquest prosecutor wrote a marginal note on the letter-request stating that "there is presence of doubt as to the alleged buy-bust.’’
The note also directed the police to release the suspect for further investigation.
