The Integrated Performing Arts Guild (IPAG), a resident company of the MSU–Iligan Institute of Technology, opens its 2006 U.S. tour with performances in the Hawaiian Islands.
IPAG will be featured in performances celebrating the Filipino centennial in North America.
The Hawaii Filipino Centennial Celebration Commission commemorates 100 years of Filipino migration when the first Filipino workers arrived in the island state in 1906.
IPAG performs in Honolulu and in the islands of Kauai, Maui and Hawaii until Aug. 6.
Hosting the Philippine group will be the Filipino Centennial Celebration Commission and the Congress of Visayan Organizations (COVO).
Hawaii has over 275,000 Filipinos, the 2nd largest Filipino population next to California.
From Hawaii, IPAG performs in Washington D.C., North Carolina, Virginia, Florida and Los Angeles.
IPAG will be on tour until the first week of October.
The guild performs its signature Tales From Mindanao, a string of dance–music vignettes pooled from local lore.
Joining the 2006 International Ensemble are Melvin Pascubillo, Leilani Monterola–Fernandez, Eleanor Lila, Lilybeth Maraon, Wenna Balaido, Arlem Abanes, Julius Hechanova, Amado Guinto, Kenn Erwin Velasquez, Phoebe Jean Gayanelo, Flory Vic Caoile, Jetaime Yamut, Loraine Antiquina, Ronald Salazar and Arvin Solis.
