Hyundai gives driving tips for rainy days
spacer

To keep your rainy day drive a safe experience, Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. (HARI), the exclusive distributor of Hyundai automobiles here in the Philippines, gives these easy driving reminders:

• First, check your vehicle’s brakes, wipers, headlights, brake lights and windows. Make sure they are all in working order and if not, have them checked. A simple problem such as a broken taillight can cause major accidents especially in a heavy downpour.

• Remember to slow down when the rain sets in. Not only are the roads slippery, but potholes and other road hazards tend to show up and double up in number in this driving condition.

• Avoid tailgating. Maintain a relatively far following distance because it takes longer to stop on wet surfaces. This might also help you avoid accidents should one occur right in front of you.

• It is also advisable to allot more travel time so you would not have to rush to your destination. Give yourself a few extra minutes as traffic really does slow down during the rain.

• Driving while using your mobile phone is already not recommended during dry road conditions, what for more wet and slippery ones? Keep both hands on the wheel and your eyes and mind alert to what’s happening on the road, not on your phone. If you really need to use the phone, safely pull over.

• Don’t drive when you’re sleepy. The lulling sound of raindrops will put you right to sleep! Pull over and wait till you can manage or better yet, have someone drive for you.

• Skidding and hydroplaning are the most common mishaps during rainy days. When this happens, it is important to remain calm. Do not step hard on the brakes because this will just cause your vehicle to be more uncontrollable. Maintain focus and slowly ease your foot off the gas until you get control of your wheels again.

• And keep abreast with the latest road conditions. Listen to traffic news for accidents and traffic jams. Avoid unfamiliar areas and areas that flood up to avoid being stuck on the road for a long period of time.

For Hyndai vehicle owners, keep in mind the more than 20 authorized Hyundai dealerships situated in strategic places nationwide, who you can call for assistance.

Hyundai’s first-class service centers offer professional handling for your car’s repair and maintenance needs. Hyundai genuine parts are also available so your Hyundai gets only the best quality parts and products.
