The Power of Dreams” continues to inspire innovations in mobility. You’ll see that at the Honda World 2006 where Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) presents its prestigious lineup of automobiles and motorcycles, and Asimo, the world’s most advanced humanoid robot.
At the centerstage of the vehicle line-up are two new models that are expected to continue the popularity of Honda vehicles in the Philippines. Unveiled at the opening of the Honda World by Takashi Sekiguchi, HCPI president, and Arnel Doria, Marketing division head, were two luxury models – the new Honda Accord and the 2006 Honda Pilot.
The Honda World, where both new models were launched to the motoring press last Wednesday, is a week-long exhibition at the Glorietta Activity Center in Makati.
Honda Sport Accord
Introduced in the Philippine market in 1990, the Honda Accord has become one of Honda’s strongest brands here.
The 2006 model, the Sport Accord, has refinements to enhance its sporty character. "Like slipping through the wind, the new Accord’s lowered profile and sleek bonet design greatly improves the sedan’s aerodynamics, for reduced drag and wind noise. It has a lower ground clearance by as much as 15mm, giving the new model a sportier profile and supports handling, as well as high speed stability," said Doria.
New smoked-type headlights emphasize the new Accord’s aggressive look, while new 16" alloy wheel design for both 2.4 Vti-L and 3.0 V6 impressively highlights the new Accord’s bold sense of styling.
Another attractive feature is a sunroof, a standard in the new Accord 3.0 V6 model.
Inside the new Accord, plush interior design flashes luxury. The new 2.4 Vti-L Accord comes in new black leather interior with metallic panel accents, while the new Accord 3.0 V6 model has ivory leather seats with woodgrain panel accents.
The steering wheel can be positioned to achieve the most comfortable driving position with the new tilt and telescopic adjustment feature.
A pleasant ride is assured by the Dual Auto Climate Control, 6-CD in-dash changer, and premium audio system with extra power output in audio and speakers (exclusive to new Accord 3.0 V6 model).
The 2006 Accord’s dynamic performance is delivered by an advanced 2.4 i-VTEC and 3.0 V6 VTEC engines that deliver 170ps respectively, besting the equivalent engines of other cars in its class.
On the other hand, Vehicle Stability Assist and 5-link double wishbone suspension help in preventing pitching during emergency braking situations, therefore supporting vehicle stability.
Introductory prices of the new Accord are: 2.4L i-VTEC model, P1,470,000; 3.0L V6, P1,690,000.
