PRESIDENT GMA has called anew for a reconciliation with political enemies, airing fresh hopes for uniting the nation.
That’s positive thinking – but sounds "mute and academic’’ to the opposition
* * *
PGMA has also vowed to eradicate the "culture of violence.’’
Yes, Madame President, please include the "culture of indolence,’’ among the poor and the "culture of affluence’’ in government.
* * *
"I ask for reconciliation,’’ the smiling PGMA yelled at the well-attended 22nd anniversary of El Shaddai at the Luneta.
"We ask for contribution,’’ some guys could have said nearby.
* * *
Opposition leader Senator Nene Pimentel reacted that "her call for reconciliation is a hollow and futile gesture.’’
A debate could go nowhere – so let’s better produce hollow blocks for homes and infrastructure.
* * *
Calling for an end to the culture of violence, PGMA lamented that: "For too long, there has been a culture of violence in our political process. For years, political disputes have been settled looking down the barrel of a gun.’’
True and if not checked, it could worsen this coming election year.

To show sincerity, PGMA honored political martyr Benigno "Ninoy’’ Aquino and created the Commission to Conduct an Independent Probe of the Killings of Media Practitioners and Militant Activists.
Yes to a better culture, yes to a better probe!
* * *
But some opposition lawmakers said that the probe body is "unacceptable’’ because of its proMalacañang composition.
The next fatality could be the Commission itself.
* * *
"Everybody is free to speak in his country,’’ PGMA assured.
Just make sure it’s safe and not libelous.

House leaders have suspended action on the justice committee report recommending dismissal of the impeachment complaint vs the President.
Ha-ha, not as quick as the junking, gentlemen!

The Commission on Audit (CoA) has chided the SSS for its unfinished R1.3-billion ID project which has reportedly failed to fully facilitate SSS transactions.
It’s the usual "speedy release of funds but slow completion’’ syndrome.
* * *
The MMDA has complained that lack of funds worsens flooding in Metro Manila especially in the northern towns of Navotas and Malabon which need to operate more pumping stations.
It’s a case of cash flow deterring flood flow.
* * *
Authorities and concerned groups have asked for more multi-sectoral support to the speedy cleanup of Guimaras Island and nearby areas from a devastating oil tanker spill.
It’s the oil we don’t need, people complain.

The proposed division of Cebu into three provinces being pushed by some congressmen is being strongly opposed by Gov. Gwen Garcia and supporters.
For better governance or division of spoils?

Some eight to nine million Filipinos suffer from various forms of chronic pain, said the Pain Society of the Philippines.
Can Philhealth offer free massage or cure ‘em all, Madam President?
