Taguig City yesterday commended another taxi driver for returning P127,000 in cash left by his businesswoman passenger the other night.
Mayor Sigfrido Tinga praised Roberto Robianes, 33, for the honesty he showed when he returned the money to Gloriosa Capin, 24, of Makati City.
“We are proud to have people like Roberto. He gives a good impression not only of himself but of Taguig as well,” Tinga said.
Capin said after coming home from a bank, she rode an FX taxi driven by Robianes who drove her to the Macro Warehouse on Buendia Ave., Makati, yesterday morning.
“Hiningi ko ang cell phone number nya para kung sakaling pauwi na ako matapos makapamili ay sa kanya na din ako sasakay,” Capin said.
After a full day of shopping, the businesswoman contacted Robianes to fetch her.
Capin said on her way home on board Robianes’ taxicab she talked to somebody on her cell phone while tucking under her armpit her pouch bag containing the money.
Upon arriving home, she noticed that her pouch bag was missing.
She immediately called up Robianes and told him about the missing pouch.
Robianes checked the cab and found her bag inside.
Both parties agreed to meet at the Taguig City Hall the following day as Robianes returned the pouch bag with the money intact to Capin in the presence of Tinga.
Robianes said he did not think twice in returning the money because he wanted to be a good example to his three kids and show them the value of being honest. (Jean Fernando)
“Gusto ko pong patunayan na hindi puro negatibo ang nangyayari sa ating paligid na dito po sa Taguig ay maayos ang mga tao,” Robianes said.
