Are They Remaking a Classic?
This hotel is getting one heck of a makeover. First, the Manila Pavilion Hotel’s lobby was given a major facelift, turning it into something more attuned and contemporary. Second, their restaurants underwent meticulous renovations, some minor, some drastic. The Boulvar lobby lounge and Patisserie went through the motions of upgrading, but their Café Coquilla was thoroughly changed. The restaurant is now called Seasons, and part of the slew of themed restaurants currently popular among the Metro’s hotels. Nevertheless, their most important change would be the third one — the Pavilion has a new Executive Chef in town.

The Museum Menu
Cuisine, art and history are all interconnected; the fusion of these three humanizes everything.

THE CULTUREFRONT FILIPINO FOOD GUIDE (part 1 of 4)
As I have observed, though Pinoy food is still the framework of our cultural cuisine, most modern Filipinos prefer to visit restaurants with foreign themes rather than local ones. The immediate reason that I can think of is the idea of colonial mentality, which, by cultural demographic is common to Filipinos throughout history. As a norm, we always tend to consider eating foreign dishes as classier than eating local cuisine.

Treff and Other Short Stops
It never ceases to amaze me that every time I stay at Waterfront Lahug in Cebu there is always some form of reinvention happening that pushes it a notch higher than its competitors in the hospitality race. Marco Protacio, the young general manager of this hotel seems to have captured a good, clear formula for his hotel.

Tarlac’s Favorite Isdaan Resto-Park
Life in Metro Manila can be described as rough and tough. At the end of a week of noise, energy draining work and traffic jams you can feel like you need a day off to relax and unwind. Escape from the hustle and bustle at the Isdaan Floating RestoPark.

GOURMET COOKING CLASSES AT THE TIVOLI
Gourmands, food lovers, and culinary enthusiasts will welcome this latest offering from Mandarin Oriental’s signature fine-dining restaurant The Tivoli. Monthly cooking classes beginning September 23 by The Tivoli chef Stefan Trepp on the fine art of culinary creation, will impart to participants gourmet cooking recipes and techniques that will enhance their skills and appreciation of creative culinary art.

Private Italian
Growing tired of the usual restaurants serving the same kind of food, my husband and I made a trek to Pampanga for the ultimate change of scenery. Before, we tried most of the major restaurants in Angeles City save for one located in a new building called the Excelsior. The restaurant is called Privado, or private in Italian.
