DIMSUM HEAVEN IN HONGKONG When I had received an invitation from the Hongkong Tourism Board to judge in their Best of the Best Culinary Awards I did not even bat an eyelash and immediately said yes. I knew that whatever hard work (but believe me enjoyable and gastronomic…) there was in judging their top chefs, it would be a great opportunity to dine and sample the great diversity of restaurants on one’s free time. Hong Kong is after all, still one of the finest places to eat in the world and because of the limited time afforded, full use of these delicious windows of opportunity had to be maximized.
Eat and Drink Davao Style It is said that Davao City is third in the world when it comes to the cleanest water, next to Switzerland and Japan. The water, which comes from their springs, contains great amounts of minerals and has a distinction that the Davaoeños are very proud of; safe, pure, and refreshing anywhere, anytime in Davao City.

Cupcakes for Sonja Are you all happy that I am back writing articles? I was on an extended sabbatical traveling around the country and doing other things. The moment I had free time I visited the new commercial area of Serendra in Bonifacio and guess what I saw? My kind of coffee and dessert place where I can have a dozen sweets without even feeling that full. It’s called Cupcakes by Sonja, a quaint little café situated in the new Serendra Retail Area. You won’t miss it, with its pink and white décor, big glass displays showing classical and homey looks of cupcakes.
Manila’s Orchidarium Cuisine The recently opened Barbara’s Restaurant in the Manila Orchidarium—on Maria Orosa St., Rizal Park—holds a promise of good cuisine with good wait-staff service. But, the challenge doesn’t end there; as per always good food seeks justice with the palates it serves.
SING, SING, SING! love singing! Well, if you can call it that. Sometimes I sound like a cockroach and sometimes like a car halting to a fast stop. It depends on the day and the mood. But most days I sound like a happy mom jamming with her kids. And I do it everywhere! In the toilet, in the kitchen (much to my mother’s dismay since she believes that singing while cooking will sour your relationship with your mother in law), or in the bath. Most of the times I do it unknowingly.
Wendy’s Hamburgers: On Top of the Competition The entry of foreign competition caused jitters in the local fastfood arena. A hamburger giant entered the market – and the burger scene was never the same again. Wendy’s Hamburgers remains in the frontliner in this competition, and faces the challenge squarely. With market strategies finding their footholds in both local and long-standing global reputation, Wendy’s Hamburgers continues to sizzle.
