An Interactive Wedding Site: WeddingPinoy.net
spacer

By CHARLENE FERNANDEZ

"It’s about helping busy couples in a busy world," says founder Kenneth Uy of WeddingPinoy.net, a new online forum put together with the intent of providing a venue for soon-to-wed couples and wedding suppliers. Sounds pretty ordinary? It isn’t. "The site is grouped into sections; there’s a forum for photographers, one for designers, and several for other suppliers to interact with each other and collaborate with the couple in planning for the big day. Registration is free, and everyone is invited to join WeddingPinoy.net and experience it for themselves.

Why WeddingPinoy.net? Kenneth, a photographer by trade, was sometimes stymied by the difficulties of communicating with clients over the net or across cities. He wanted a direct interaction between suppliers and soon-to-weds, something convenient and yet easy-to-read in a reader-friendly blog-style format. "We are fast becoming an internet market; when people want things, the first place they often check is on the net. People are very busyA these days, yet they want value for money. What happens if there’s a supplier you want who is in another province? Can you afford to go there to check the supplier out? Here at weddingpinoy.net, everyone gets the most up-to-date and direct access to a wealth of information from different wedding suppliers across the country, from wedding gown designers, makeup artists, florists, churches, reception venues, caterers, photographers, videographers, wedding coordinators…the works. We understand the pressures of planning your perfect wedding. We value your time, thus we make it a point that the information you need is just a mouse-click away!"

And a mouse click away they are, indeed. With quick access to forums (carrying convenient headings such as "Wedding Planning", "Wedding Talk", and "Just For Grooms/Brides" and including sections for feedback), member profiles, supplier websites, a calendar, even a search function and previews of About Weddings (including the date of release), all in a neat, attractive, uncluttered layout, it is a pleasure to navigate. It’s a boon for both soon-to-weds and suppliers, especially those with small operations who provide good service who cannot as of yet afford their own websites

One group that is most likely to benefit from WeddingPinoy.net are couples living abroad who come home and celebrate their weddings in the Philippines. Kenneth says, "Trouble is, despite the advances in technology, there will always be misdirected or unreceived e-mail, for one." He’s come up with a quaint solution for this problem. At WeddingPinoy.net, couples and suppliers are informed of responses to their queries two ways: first, via our e-mail service, which informs you when you’ve been contacted through the forum, and second, through the forum itself. Second, the responses and queries are preserved on the forum so that those with similar queries can find preliminary answers to their questions. "We connect couples with suppliers," Kenneth says happily.

Another boon WeddingPinoy.net gives to its members is the ability to interact without pressure. "Based on my own experience, it’s difficult to negotiate at a bridal fair. So much pressure and competition, plus the couple is eager to check everything out quickly because they’re usually in a hurry. What if you need time to think, to articulate? WeddingPinoy.net gives suppliers and couples the chance to ‘talk’ things over, and at leisure," says Kenneth.

Are they going to keep membership free? "Definitely!" says Kenneth. "We tried to think of as many things as the couple might need. We even considered designing the site for ease of access even for dial-up connections, and we appreciate suggestions and comments for improving the site. Our team is composed of people from the wedding industry in the Philippines who believe that planning your wedding should be both fun and enjoyable. By giving you the venue to interact with potential suppliers, other soon-to-wed couples, and newlyweds, we hope to help you in making your dream wedding come true."
