Christmas treats at Starbucks
STARBUCKS elevated express gourmet coffee to both an art and a science, and may we add that they keep getting better at it with each passing year.
The coffeeshop chain’s Christmas treats justify a store swoop at least once a day to experience the veritable Christmas feast of savories, sandwiches and sweets rolled out for the holidays. For the inveterately acquisitive, Starbucks Holiday collections of mugs, tumblers and coffee paraphernalia qualify as seasonal irresistibles (we just love the cute candy cane mug!) to fitfully expend your holiday largesse on. And, of course, there’s the Planner, a sanctified Christmas exercise in itself (good news for all of you who don’t consider cold concoctions as coffee; you can redeem the Planner just by purchasing 21 hot coffee items).
Of course, this Christmas funfest isn’t all in the name of the bottomline. Starbucks, which counts itself a good corporate citizen, promotes the giving spirit with its "Be A Holiday Angel" campaign. Every purchase of the Gingerbread Latte and the Gingerbread Cookie, plus every 2007 Starbucks Planner redeemed, contributes to a donation to Project SparkHope, the company’s early childhood care advocacy program in impoverished barangays. A Book Drive also collects books from customers in a special corner of the store, which will be sent to a designated beneficiary within the store’s immediate community.
