TOP AMERICAN fighting cock breeders Dan Gray, Joe Wolcott, Larry Whitehead, Tom Cooper, Jeff Hudspeth, and Eddie Odell say they are among Manny Pacquiao’s biggest fans.
The six champion American cockers, who have won big derbies in the country, say they will not miss the opportunity to have their pictures taken with Pacquiao during the National Cockers’ Association (NCA) World Championship Derby.
The NCA World Championship Derby will be held on Jan. 9, 11, and 13 at the Pasay City cockpit. It is sponsored by Sagupaan Complexor.
"Pacquiao is the greatest boxer in the world today. I admire him for his talent, sportsmanship, and dedication to the sport," Whitehead said.
The six bigwigs in US cockfighting say that however much they admire Pacquiao, they will try to beat him during the NCA championship derby.
Pacquiao is among the NCA members who will battle it out for the NCA championship.
Wolcott, who, last Dec. 16 and 17, won the championship in the Sunset Recreation Club Derby in Louisiana, USA, with an amazing score of 7-1, said he will not rest until he again captures the NCA championship.
"The NCA championship derby promises to be an exciting event. It will be a no hold’s barred fight among the top cockers in the world," Wolcott vowed.
Other top American contenders who are flying in the country to snatch the NCA crown are Gene Batia, Ric de Guzman, Jimbo Cox, Damon Yorkman, Andy Robertson, Red Lawson, Rey Morrison, Richard Borris, Chuck Halbert, Richard Lanier, Paul Pasot, Jason Campbell, Bryan Cochran, Crow Grave, and many others.
Pacquiao, however, will not just face the best American cockers. He will also contend with the bigwigs of Philippine cockfighting.
Eddie Araneta and his brother Bomboy Araneta have long prepared for this much-awaited international derby. They are confident that their aces will prevail over all the other contenders.
Heavy favorites Patrick Antonio together with his American guest Joe Sanford say they are ready to face all the contenders in the cockfighting ring.
