Saying the Philippines is still a lucrative market for network security, a Singapore-based distributor of security solutions has decided recently to set up shop in the country in an attempt to widen its coverage of the region.
M.Tech, which is part of the Singapore Exchange listed Multi-Chem Group, said that with the inauguration of its Philippine office, it is now the leading regional IT security solutions distributor with 11 offices in 8 countries in the Asia Pacific region.
Officially named M.Tech Products Philippines Inc., the company said it is entering the local market with the hope of providing companies with best-of-breed inter-operable IT solutions, products, and services.
M.Tech currently has an alliance with Nokia and Check Point for the provision of Firewall and Virtual Private Network (VPN), Riverbed for wide-area data services (WDS) solutions, and TippingPoint for Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS). These alliances, the firm said, would allow it to provide a full range of products and services to support the needs of local corporations.
Paul Lim, regional business manager for the Philippines and Singapore, said M.Tech’s decision to put up an office in the country is a sign of its confidence in the Philippines as a fast-growing market in the region.
"The Philippines is a huge emerging market for data security and protection especially now, as more and more data intensive companies like banking and financial institutions, call centers, medical transcription companies, are reaffirming their commitment here," Lim added.
Established in May 2002, M.Tech is headquartered in Singapore and, in addition to its presence in Singapore and the Philippines, it has regional offices in the fast-growing markets of China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Vietnam. (Melvin G. Calimag)
