The International Cultural Studies & Education Corporation (ICSEC) was incorporated in 1993 to be the educational and social service arm of the LKG Group of Companies, a diversified company engaged in various areas such as construction, appliance wholesaling and retailing, banking and finance, steel manufacturing, advertising, etc.
ICSEC’s first endeavor was to bring Kaplan Test Preparation technology to the Philippines. With Kaplan, Inc., ICSEC commits to equipping its students with the right skills to excel in the standardized examinations that will spell success for them in whatever field of endeavor they may be. Among the more than 80 standardized exams delivered in Kaplan US Centers, ICSEC offers programs for licensure examinations in nursing, medicine, dentistry; programs for university admissions and English proficiency examinations.
The first ICSEC Center was opened in 1995 inside the campus of the University of the East, Manila and in Makati, at the Trafalgar Building. In order to accommodate the continuously increasing number of students, ICSEC Makati moved to then Herrera St. off Ayala Avenue and ICSEC Manila was closed to give in to a bigger space in Quezon City.
In 2000, these two Centers were again moved and ICSEC Cebu opened. The following year, ICSEC went back to Manila with the opening of a Center along Morayta at the heart of the University Belt. In 2005, in response to the growing demands from different parts of the country, ICSEC set up Centers in the following key cities in the country: Baguio, Davao, Iloilo and Legazpi.
Apart from bringing test preparation nearer to the market, and with the aim of providing more service than preparing students for their exams, ICSEC forged relationships with groups that could further support these students in their career and educational paths. This makes it easier for students to find their niche outside the country as well.
Addressing the need for quality test preparation programs for the local standardized exams, ICSEC established its own research division, the Curriculum and Instructional Development Division. These programs are also delivered in the eight Centers nationwide. Further strengthening its portfolio of programs, ICSEC launched its Caregiver Program in 2004 and the Medical Transcription Program in 2005. In the pipeline are the Call Center Taining Program, Teacher Training Development Program and the Practical Nursing Program.
In only a decade, ICSEC was able to mark its presence in key areas in the country and launched several programs to help students and professionals achieve their goals.
