(Let your inner beauty glow)
By OWEN BAUTISTA-ALCARAZ
Now that the holidays are over, most are left in high spirits and with new things such as clothes, shoes, gadgets and whatnot! With everything almost new, why not do a hair makeover and sport a different look for 2007. And since the Korean invasion is very much on and still going strong, why not make a go on an Asian hairstyle from premiere Korean hairstylists at Tony & Jackey.
The first and only Korean Salon (that this writer knows of, at least) is now on its fourth year under new management. What used to be a five-seater, one shampoo station salon in Remedios St. Malate now has two other branches located in Makati and Cebu with more salons expected to open within the year.
"People from the Southern region no longer have to come to Manila because we’ve already brought it closer to them," says Angel Kim, general manager of Tony & Jackey Beauty Salon Corp.
He further relates, "When the business first started here, a lot of people said it couldn’t be done. But now we’re all proving them wrong."
Since 2001, the salon has a steady number of Class A and B local clients as well as some Korean nationals as well. "Most of the people who come to us are friends of friends from whom they’ve heard about us. We’re very proud to have gained these people’s trust that they are confident in referring our services to other people they know," tells Kim.
KOREAN AT ITS BEST!
Today, apart from Korean cuisine that’s been mushrooming left and right, people can also have a taste of another Korean’s Best – in beauty and hairstyle, that is!
Whether be it hair rebonding, setting or digital perm, hair coloring or a regular haircut and treatment, rest assured that your needs are well taken cared off and expectations are met by its skilled and experienced team of experts.
"Our stylists go through four to five years of intensive training and this strict discipline reflects on the kind of work and attention that we provide each client. After all, the money they pay is hard-earned so we have to make sure that they get their money’s worth," Kim tells.
More importantly, what sets apart T&J from any other salons in the metro is the concept of Asian care for Asian needs. "I’m not trying to brag or whatever but if you notice, when you look at all the salons here, they’re all European styled. Now are you European? I’m not saying that they are not good because they are. But when we thought about T&J, we built it especially for Asians," he stresses.
From the hair products to the machine equipments, T&J boasts of having imported all of their materials from Korea. All of which are particularly designed to provide the Asian nation satisfaction guaranteed.
Furthermore, T&J have created a program for their discriminating clientele that would follow up and check on their customers long after they have left the salon. "When you have your hair done, it might not be much but for the people who did your hair to call you and check on you is already something. That’s what we do. I don’t want any customer walking out of here not smiling or not happy. That has been our policy ever since," ends Kim.
