563 of 1,033 pass government exam for pharmacists

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) yesterday announced that 563 out of 1,033 passed the Pharmacist Licensure Examination given by the Board of Pharmacy in the cities of Manila and Cebu this January, 2007.

On the Board of Pharmacy which gave the licensure examination are Ms. Catalina C. Sanchez, chairwoman, and Reynaldo Maxlito H. Umali and Ms. Jennifer M. Flores, members.

The results were released in two days after the last day of examination.

The successful examinees who garnered the 10 highest places are the following:

Patrick Cordoba Sebastian, University of the Philippines-Manila, 92.07; Meryl Mae Ong Ong, University of the PhilippinesManila, 91.82; Mary Jo Javarez Javier, University of the Philippines-Manila, 91.33; Vincent Quijencio Reolalas, University of the Philippines-Manila, 90.63; Anthony Austria Suguitan, University of the Philippines-Manila, 90.35; Glaiza Estepa Estira, Saint Louis University, 90.02; Mary Angela Gapaz Villena, University of the Philippines-Manila, 89.67; Timothy Jay Llesol Bengala, University of the Philippines-Manila, 89.52; Precious Ann Macalintal Centeno, University of the Philippines-Manila and Juvy Anne de Guia Pagulayan, University of the Philippines-Manila, 88.90; and Hansel James Benigno Bulaclac, University of Santo Tomas, 88.80.

Registration for the issuance of Professional Identification Card (ID) and Certificate of Registration will start on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007 but not later than Feb. 20, 2007. Those who will register are required to bring the following: duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal, current Community Tax Certificate (cedula), 2 pieces passport size picture (colored with white background and complete nametag), 1 piece 1" x 1" picture (colored with white background and complete nametag), 2 sets of metered documentary stamps, and 1 short brown envelope with name and profession; and to pay the Initial Registration Fee of R600 and Annual Registration Fee of R450 for 20072010. Successful examinees should personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals.

The oathtaking ceremony of the successful examinees in the said examination as well as the previous ones who have not taken their Oath of Professional will be held before the Board on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007 at 1 p.m. at the Fiesta Pavilion, Manila Hotel, One Rizal Park, Manila.

Registration for membership with the Philippine Pharmaceutical Association (PPhA), Inc. will start on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007.

The top performing schools (with 10 or more examinees) in the January 2007 Pharmacist Licensure Examination are as follows:

University of the Philippines-Manila, 37 of 37 passed, 100.00% ; Saint Louis University, 20 of 21, 95.00%; and Lyceum Northwestern, 12 of 13, 92.00%.
