In line with the celebration of the foundation of Caloocan City next month, Mayor Enrico Echiverri announced yesterday that the local government is now accepting nominations for this year’s Gawad Recom Awards.
Echiverri said the Gawad Recom is an acronym which stands for "Recognizing Exemplary Contribution of Outstanding Men and Women." Recom is also the nickname of the mayor.
He said it is an award given to model citizens who have excelled in their respective fields and made significant contributions to the city.
Echiverri urged everyone who knows or may know of residents fitting the qualification to secure a nomination form from the office concerned with that respective category.
The eight categories with their respective office concerned are as follows: Commerce under the Business Permits and Licensing Office for Outstanding Taxpayer (Individual and Corporation) and Businessman; Law and Order under the Caloocan City Police Department for Outstanding Officer (Commissioned and Non-Commissioned), Outstanding Sub-station and Police Community Precinct; Fire Protection under the Caloocan Bureau of Fire Protection for Outstanding Firefighter; Sports under the Sports Development Services for Outstanding Athletes; Home and Family under the Division of City Schools for Outstanding Family and Outstanding Citizen; Justice under the City Legal Office for Outstanding Judge; Health under the Caloocan Health Department for Outstanding Midwife, Nurse, Dentist and Doctor; Education under the Division of City School for Outstanding Teacher, Student, Department Head, School Principal (Elementary and Secondary) and Outstanding District Supervisor.
Echiverri said the Gawad Recom will be awarded during a special ceremony to commemorate the city’s foundation anniversary.
