spacer

The wife of a policeman was killed when her husband’s service firearm fell on the ground and went off the other day in Pasay City.

The victim, Juliana Salcedo of 001 Sapatashai St., Bo. Balagbag, Pasay City, died upon arrival at the Makati Medical Center from a bullet wound in the body.

Her husband, SPO4 Ronaldo Salcedo of the Cotabato police, was also admitted at the same hospital after suffering from high blood pressure brought about by the incident.

Investigation by PO3 John Maligat showed that Salcedo was having a drinking spree with friends in front of their house where he reportedly fired three shots in the air and went inside, leaving his gun on top of the table at about 5:30 p.m.

According to Salcedo’s sister, Bernadeth, the policeman’s wife tried to pick up the policeman’s gun for safekeeping when it slipped from her hands and fell on the ground, accidentally going off and hitting her.

When Salcedo rushed back, he found his wife lay bloodied on the ground and brought her to the hospital where she was declared dead on arrival. (James I. Catapusan)
