VillMan Computer Systems, Inc. (VCSI)

By Carlo S. Suerte Felipe & Paul Marc Rañon

With so many computer stores around the metro, spending one whole day is not enough to visit each and every store. To save yourself from this painstaking task, we’ve decided to go out to the urban jungle and bring the computer stores to you (or something to that effect). And the first store we visited was the VillMan Computer Systems, Inc. (VCSI) at the SM Mall of Asia. Our visit was unannounced and we simply asked them about the current products that they have.

VCSI is a one-stop-shop for your computer and gadget needs. They carry various brands like Acer, ASUS, Creative, Samsung, Sony, HP, Altec Lansing, and Epson. The store also carry laptops, handhelds (PDAs), Microsoft OEM Softwares, media storage devices and discs, digital audio players, digital cameras, and networking devices. In case you don’t know, VCSI has a one-month outright replacement on all their products.

"Most of the products that you see here are the latest products," said salesclerk Marcia Pallarca as she showed us the store’s flyer containing a list of LCD monitors, laptops, and mp3 players. "These products can be purchased on a zero percent interest via credit card. Also, if you have any products in mind that we don’t have at the moment, we can order it for you."

The store’s layout is straightforward - showing you most of their products on the display cabinets. Flyers are evenly distributed on top of the display cabinets at the left and right portions of the store. In case you don’t see what you are looking for, you can ask any of the friendly crew inside.

We asked them about their latest gadget offerings, and according to Marcia, mp3 players are the most saleable items in their store. Perhaps she was talking about Creative’s Zen V Plus digital audio player and the X-Fi device (an external audio enhancement). "Most people nowadays prefer the mp3 players of Creative," Marcia said. "Actually, when there is something new about these gadgets or when it gets updated, consumers tend to grab a hold of them as soon as possible."

With regards to their laptops, Acer is the brand which most of the customers buy. The same goes for Samsung when it comes to LCD monitors because they are more affordable. All-In-One printers are said to be doing not too well since buyers are cautious about their consumables. "Since customers want a printer that uses ink cartridges that are cheaper, we always recommend to them the Epson brand," said salesclerk Jeciry Gagoco. "Epson stands out when it comes to very affordable in cartridges."

Also, VCSI has its own "V-PC" computer packages for those who want to purchase a complete PC setup without the hassle, and the "V-PC Viper" value laptops. "With the V-PC packages, in case the customer would encounter any problems they can bring it to any branch and it will be serviced there right away," Jeciry adds. "It doesn’t need to be scheduled anymore."

VCSI currently has 10 retail stores in Metro Manila, two stores in Cabanatuan City and one in Olongapo City. If you can’t visit their stores right away or you want to do your shopping online, you can check out their website at www.villman.com. So, for all your IT needs, check out the nearest VillMan computer store near you.
