CSPB: Educator of, and for life
spacer

On February 11, 1913, Escuela Catolica opened its doors to educate the young people of Obando, Bulacan. It is probably one of the oldest Catholic schools in the entire province. From Esculea Catolica, its name was changed to San Pascual Institution in 1936 in reverence to one of the town’s three patron saints – San Pascual Baylon. And as it began to offer tertiary education in 1985 it was finally named Colegio de San Pascual Baylon (CSPB).

Almost a hundred years witnessed the evolution of this enduring institution. CSPB continues to improve her way of educating the youth by instilling perseverance, appreciation of knowledge, spirituality and compassion – all in a holistic academic environment that continues its legacy of commitment to quality Catholic education.

Starting off with the basic amenities needed by an academe, CSPB has expanded its infrastructure to address the demands of competitive education that will produce able and skilled young citizens. New buildings were built to cater to newly – introduced grade levels and provide ample spaces for maximized learning in the school’s two massive campuses: the Fr. Juan Dilag and Fr. Marcos Punzal. Both are seemingly closely watched over by the famous Obando Pastoral Church.

Believing that learning does not stop with theories and discussions, new facilities such as three fully equipped science, computer and speech laboratories were built. These were added to enhance the students’ learning capacities by exposing them to the needed practical application. CSPB also has a new centralized library with some of the latest academic literature that will surely encourage young students to appreciate the value of reading books, journals and academic magazines.

As CSPB is committed to play a major role in her students’ balanced personal growth, a gymnasium was likewise added to provide a venue for physical advancement guided by healthy competition, team work and deepened friendships. The newest high school building built recently within Fr. Punzal campus houses the school chapel. This provides employees and students with a ready spiritual sanctuary.

With all these, the school believes it has been reaping rewards as her students continue to garner success in inter-school cultural, academic and athletic competitions not only within the province but beyond.

CSPB celebrates its foundation week on February 12 to 16. And perhaps the greatest reward is knowing that she is still an educator of and for life – after, and surely beyond 94 great school years. (JUANITA S. SANTIAGO – High School Faculty)
