TIPS TO UNWIND AND GET AWAY FROM THE STRESS THAT WEDDING PLANNING ENTAILS
Your wedding day is fast approaching and things are getting out of proportion for there are still a lot of things to prepare for a glittery and spotless execution come the most special day in your life. It is commonly expected for the couple to look fresh, not harassed; Make up techniques may be the alternative, but an inner glow with the purest of smiles and the brightest of eyes brings out the best in anyone. More often than not, the couple, especially the bride, takes care of the gruesome business of organizing the wedding herself. An option to relieve the stress of wedding planning is to get the services of a wedding organizer and be less involved in the arduous process of wedding organizing. The couple can enjoy the rest of the time bonding and relaxing, the best of which is by going to a spa and having a soothing massage, for there is nothing more relaxing than lying on a comfy bed and getting light to hard presses to loosen up sore muscles. Swedish, Thai, Shiatsu, are just some of the types of massages you can have. Oil, powder and lotion are things you can use to mix it up.
Different strokes, for different folks
The term "Swedish Massage" refers to a variety of techniques specifically designed to relax muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones, and rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart. Swedish massage was developed in the 1700’s by a Swedish doctor named Per Henrik Ling. The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles.
"Shiatsu", also known as acupressure, is a finger pressure massage technique that is sometimes confused with acupuncture. Shiatsu massage therapy and acupuncture are founded on the Chinese meridian system. The therapist applies pressure with his thumbs, finger, and palms to specific areas of the client’s body that have been determined during an assessment period prior to the massage session. There are no needle pokes involved with Shiatsu. Massage techniques like tapping, squeezing, rubbing, and applied pressure are applied along the meridians to unblock energy blockages and reintroduce the optimal flow of ki. Here are some benefits of Shiatsu Massage: deep muscle and tissue relaxation, stress reduction and management, release of toxins from the body, prevention of diseases, increased flexibility, improved blood circulation, blood pressure reduction, mental anxiety reduction, balance of ki , calming of nervousness and an increase in mental and spiritual awareness.
Contrary to Western style massage, traditional "Thai massage" does not primarily work with the physical body but rather with the energy man’s body. The kneading of muscles, which dominates in Western style massage, is absent from Thai massage: energy points are pressed or general pressure is used instead. There is a lot of stretching involved and many exercises can be described as ‘applied Hatha Yoga’ or ‘applied physical Yoga’. Rather than using the term ‘Thai massage’, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to actually call it ‘Yoga massage’ since that’s what this art essentially is.
Armed with this knowledge, couples can be at their freshest as they enjoy these massages!
Other suggestions are:
1. Take a short trip / vacation – Go to Tagaytay city for a restful and cool weekend. Eat in any of the many specialty restaurants found there, go to a day spa, or do some outdoor activities like hiking up the crater of the volcano or water sports such as sailing on the lake. Go to the beach. Enjoy the peace & fresh air and just curl up with a good book and do nothing. Leave all the wedding planning behind.
2. Exercise – Enroll in a gym and let all that stress out on the machines. Join an exercise class such as yoga or Pilates to calm the mind and strengthen the body. Not only will you feel better, you will also look better on the wedding day.
3. Start a new hobby or take a specialty class - Just because you are getting married, doesn’t mean you need to stop enjoying other things. Take up cooking classes, pottery, jewelry making or whatever interests you. There are many short courses available out there. Ask a friend to join you to double the fun!
