Level Up! tests Blue at launch of new games

By EDISON D. ONG

Aside from perusing the brand new Online game title, they stayed late for the chance to bring home a Blue.

"Almost all models of Blue are okay and tested with Level Up! Games," said Joseph Calimon, Blue Digital Systems product manager in the Philippines, adding "but to experience and really enjoy the games, we suggest getting our performance Intel-based notebooks like Radon, Cerium and Cobalt."

Throughout the night at the Level Up! Elevation Launch, Blue underwent grueling tests from gamers and small café owners who flocked in to try out "Perfect World" and "Silk Road Online" which Level Up! Philippines introduced on February 9 in Greenhills, San Juan. As an incentive, a lucky guest went home with a Blue unit.

Perfect World, a full 3D Massively Multiplayer Online Game (MMORPG), showcases superior 3D graphics, deep gameplay, and a unique fully-customized character system. It is one of China’s first, original and full 3D online game.

Level Up! Philippines, Inc. signed a contract for the exclusive rights to Perfect World with the Beijing Perfect World Technology last December 12, 2006 in China to earn the right to bring the game to Philippine shores. The company is currently fast tracking the Beta stage of the game to give Filipino gamers a chance to discover why this game has taken Asia by storm.

Level Up! launched the payment gateway service for Silk Road Online, a game based on historical events in the 18th century when China used a network of trade routes in Southern Asia known as the Silk Road to barter goods and services to their counterpart Islamic and European civilizations.

Silk Road Online (also known as SRO or Silk) already has a strong following among the local gamers and with its inclusion into Level Up!’s portfolio, players will be able to purchase silk, its in-game currency, to buy desired in-game items. This will be made available initially through existing Netgames cards and later on using Level Up! cards.

Silk is a free MMORPG created by South Korean company Joymax and was launched for international beta testing last February, 2006. Currently it has a total of 1 million active unique users, of which 100,000 active players are from the Philippines.

For its part, Blue Digital Systems is bringing ambitious alternatives to satisfy the consumer’s desire for excellent products.

In July, 2006, Blue launched the Helium - the world’s first 10.6" WXGA Intel Napa platform notebook with an aluminum magnesium alloy body. A month earlier, it offered the most number of Napa notebook models in the market: Cobalt, Cerium and the Argon series.

Cobalt and Cerium runs on Intel Core Duo T2400 with 80 GB Fujitsu SATA hard drive. Both also have card readers and include Nvidia Geforce Go 7400 up to 512 Mb.

Being the least expensive of the Argon line up, Argon-S is powered by Intel Pentium M 725, against Argon-C with Intel Celeron M 360 and Argon-N24 with Intel Core Duo T2400. Argons have aluminum magnesium bodies and have 14" XGA monitors.

LEVEL UP! CAFÉ CONNECTION

In a related news, this year, Level Up! will aggressively push new marketing initiatives and trade programs to further strengthen its strategic partnership with Internet cafes nationwide.

It recently introduced the Level Up! Café Connection, a specially designed and dedicated portal and online community which gives even small café owners access to relevant online training, exclusive promotions, free localized promotions and online booking of pre-paid game cards.

"We have seen that much of the business of Internet cafes comes from computer games," said Level Up CEO Jane Walker noting that compelling content, by way of new and exciting games, directly results in increased café traffic and even branch expansion.

Small to medium-scale Internet cafes are still the primary medium by which we reach our markets, she added.
