The Chamber of Real Estate and Builders Associations (CREBA) is spnsoring a Public Forum on Real Estate Taxation with lawyer Victorino C. Mamalateo, who has a wide and solid background and training in taxation and considered a taxation guru, as speaker.
The forum will be held on March 29, 2-5 p.m. at the Hotel Intercontinental ballroom in Makati City. It is open to CREBA members and non-members, it was announced by CREBA National President Pedro C. Tario and Vice-President for Internal Affairs Avelina P. Acuña (3732270-71, 73, 75).
Topics to be discussed are 1) value-added tax and percentage taxes including the effectivity of the repeal of the 70 percent of output VAT limitation under Rules and Regulations, February, 2007; transactions of real properties including bulk sales and dacion en pago; and 2) income tax and withholding taxes: how to qualify as donee institution for full deductibility of contributions; capital gains transactions/zonal values vs. FMV per tax declaration; extension of improved voluntary assessment program (RMC2 & 8, 2007); extension of one-time administrative abatement program (RMC 72007); and other recent rulings on income tax and withholding taxes.
Mamalateo has 36 years of extensive professional experience in tax practice, 30 years of which were spent at the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) where he served as deputy commissioner.
He holds a master of laws and international tax program from the Harvard University; master of business administration for practitioners, University of the East; bachelor of laws, M.L. Quezon University.
Mamalateo served as president and vice-president for internal affairs of the Tax Management Association of the Philippines (TMAP), executive vice president, Government Association of Certified Public Accountants (GACPA). (Vicente B. Foz)
