BUTUAN CITY — A P12.3 million worth potable drinking water will be constructed to serve some 1,107 households in Bukidnon province, particularly in the remote areas of Kalilangan town.
The water system, which will have 174 communal faucets, will be placed in the barangays of Malinao, Canituan, and Sitio Mahayahay, Pamotolon, all of Kalilangan town. The water will be sourced from the Matin-ao Spring.
The multi-million-peso water system project is being funded by the Mindanao Settlement Sustainable Area Development (MinSSAD), it was learned.
Mayor Nenita Suyao of Kalilangan, Department of Agrarian Reform Regional Director John Maruhom, MinSSAD National Project Manager Percival Dalugdog and Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer (PARO) Julio Celestiano Jr. are spearheading the water project.
MinSSAD Project is one of the foreign-assisted programs being implemented by the Department of Agrarian Reform.
Of the eight settlement areas in Mindanao, Bukidnon has the biggest funding from MinSSAD totaling to R600 million.
It is funded jointly by the Government of the Philippines and the Government of Japan through a loan from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, it was learned. (MUC)
