Canon Marketing (Philippines), Inc. (CMPI) brings digital imaging to a new level as it introduces 23 new models for the PowerShot, Digital IXUS, PhotoDV, EOS Digital, LaserShot and Projector categories in the Canon ImageNation Summer ’07 product exposition. The exhibit features individual areas highlighting each of the product lines and their key features that distinguish Canon products from the rest.
“Canon is celebrating its 10th anniversary in the Philippines this year. We have also recently launched our corporate campaign – the Canon ImageNation, which reflects both Canon’s capability and reputation of being a total imaging company and, more importantly, Canon’s relationship with the image-loving Filipino,” said Ramon Arteficio, CMPI President and CEO. “True to our commitment and our word that 2007 will be a very exciting year for all of us, today we launch a whole slew of products sure to capture all the best images of summer.”
Canon Technology Excellence
DIGIC is the digital imaging core behind the PowerShot, Digital IXUS, EOS, and DV camcorders products being launched today. This exclusive imaging processor improves the products’ internal image processing which results in faster speed, more accurate auto-focus and improved image quality.
The DIGIC III Image Processor is the latest advancement to Canon's proprietary DIGIC technology. Found in the PowerShot A560/A570IS and IXUS 70/75 digital cameras, this technology boasts of the new Face Detection AF/AE, which intelligently detects up to nine faces in the frame and sets the most suitable focus point.
Developed especially for the new EOS-1D Mark III, Canon’s newest technology, the Dual DIGIC III, gives the camera two of Canon’s newest processing units, working in parallel, to dramatically enhance image quality and deliver the speed and power needed to combine 10 million pixels and the ability to capture 10 frames per second.
The Canon DIGIC DV, unique to Canon camcorders, ensures appropriate color processing for video and stills. It is a core Canon technology in this segment, an innovation derived from Canon’s optical and imaging expertise. DIGIC DV II on the other hand, found exclusively in Canon HD camcorders and the new DC50 DVD camcorder, is optimized for demanding operations, increasing battery life by 180% and further improving noise reduction, and color handling.
Canon PowerShot: A great shot every time
Canon today updates its best-selling PowerShot range with new and affordable models – the PowerShot A460, A550, A560, A570 IS, and TX1. The PowerShot A460 is available in three new colors: silver, blue and red. All five cameras have been designed with ease of use in mind. A selectable Grid Line Display on the LCDs helps with shot composition, while the 2.0” screen size makes it easy for family members to view photos together without having to connect the camera to a PC.
“Ease of use is an important factor for first time digital camera users. The Canon PowerShot A460 and A550 are perfect for the novice buyers who do not want to sacrifice quality for simplicity,” said Katrina Tioseco, Canon Product Supervisor.
The PowerShot A560 and A570 IS feature the Optical Image Stabilizer technology, which ensures blur-free images in low light conditions and at full zoom. Both cameras feature a 2.5” LCD screen, making it easier to frame tricky shots or share image playback with friends, while an added feature in the PowerShot A560 offers users a whopping 19 shooting modes.
The revolutionary PowerShot TX1 has the superb ability to capture high quality images and record in high definition 1280x720 video resolution. Its credit card size body, vertical orientation, which breaks away from traditional camera designs, also distinguishes it from the rest of the PowerShot models. It also boasts of 7.1 megapixels and 10x optical zoom lens with Optical Image Stabilizer that helps significantly reduce the blurring effects of camera shake that can occur at long zoom settings or during long exposures.
Canon Digital IXUS: Where style meets substance
The IXUS 70 and 75 are the slimmest IXUS digital cameras to date. Using a 7.1 megapixel CCD sensor, Canon has miniaturized the optical lens barrel, mainboard and flash to further slim down the two new IXUS cameras without sacrificing image quality. Both models come in two color variants: with the silver or black circle ring.
The IXUS 70 and IXUS 75 also come with a 2.5-inch and 3.0-inch “Pure Colour” LCD, respectively. The “Pure Colour” LCD is capable of producing a wide colour range, highly precise images and provides a wide viewing angle that enables users to compose pictures easily in crowds. The new LCD monitor is also resistant to scratches, fingerprints and dust and reduces reflected light for easier viewing of images even in bright outdoor situations.
In addition, both IXUS models feature the evolved Red-Eye Correction during playback. The camera can automatically detect “red eye” in portrait shots and correct them under the user’s command. They also have the new Auto ISO Shift tool that counters image blur due to hand or camera shake by adjusting ISO speeds until blurring is diminished.
DV Camcorders: Quality with Ease of Use
Canon introduces three new models in its popular ZR series camcorders: the ZR850, ZR830, and ZR800 Mini-DV Camcorders. The 2.7-inch widescreen LCD (112,000 pixels) found in all three models allows users to easily compose shots that can be shown on a widescreen TV.
The new ZR series camcorders offer genuine Canon 35x optical zoom lens (plus 1000x digital zoom), which is Canon’s longest optical zoom on a camcorder to date. The Smooth Zoom feature reduces the erratic, jerky zoom techniques, smoothing out the process by selecting from one of three pre-set zoom speeds.
Canon also unveils three new models in its DV line of camcorders – the DC210, DC220, and DC230. These compact camcorders have 35x lenses and 2.7-inch widescreen LCDs. The lower-end DC210 and DC220 use 680,000 pixel sensors, while the DC230 boasts of a 1 megapixel CCD. The DC220 and DC230 also include a QuickStart function allowing a less than 1 second start up time.
The Canon DC50 replaces the DC40 as Canon’s premiere DVD camcorder. It uses a 5 megapixel CCD and Canon's Digic DV II image processor to handle footage. The DC50 features 10x optical zoom lens with optical image stabilization allowing long shots without a tripod. Like most other compact Canon camcorders, the DC50 uses a 2.7-inch, 16:9 widescreen LCD for framing and playback.
Digital EOS: The Stylish Professional
Canon unveils its flagship and newest professional DSLR camera – the new 10.1 megapixels EOS-1D Mark III. This features the new Dual “DIGIC III” Imaging Processor for ultra-fast processing speed giving professional photographers the power to capture up to 10 frames per second. Power packed with other high performance features such as EOS Integrated Cleaning System, 300,000-cycles shutter durability and 19-point cross-type AF sensor, the EOS-1D Mark III is truly the pinnacle of photographic excellence with no compromise on shooting performance.
LaserShot Printers: Full Colour, Faster Speed
Canon extends its LaserShot range with the LBP5300, LBP5360 and LBP5960. Both the LaserShot LBP5300 and LBP5360 are capable of printing 21 pages per minute (A4 size; colour & monochrome) in stunning 9600x600 dpi (equivalent) resolution, while the premium A3-sized LBP5960 printer is engineered to deliver an amazing speed of 30 pages per minute (A4 size; colour & monochrome) and 16 pages per minute (A3 size; colour & monochrome) in amazing 9600x600 dpi (equivalent) resolution.
Projectors: Illuminating Quality
Canon also unveils a new range in its projector line – the LV X7, LV 7260, LV 7265 and LV 7575. Equipped with Native XGA resolution (1024 x 768 pixels), the new multimedia projectors can display images up to UXGA (1600 x 1200 pixels) via high-quality compression. These are also capable of displaying HDTV images, in both 720p and 1080i formats.
“The Canon ImageNation Summer ’07 exhibit, where we are launching 22 of the latest innovations in digital imaging, reiterates Canon’s commitment to deliver superior products and total digital imaging technology to all Filipino consumers,” added Arteficio. “The launch of these new consumer products reaffirms our goal in making the Canon brand synonymous to imaging and making each of the product lines number one in their categories.”
